Chapter 1

"Pah, she deserved to die. How will you seduce senior now!"
In a daze, Xu Yao heard a sharp female voice by her ear.
She suddenly opened her eyes, seeing withered yellow grass leaves and several palm-sized bread loaves scattered around her.
Where is this? Did she not die in an explosion of the game pod?
Why is she lying here?
Enduring the lingering pain in her body, Xu Yao tilted her head up in confusion.
Not far away, a curly-haired woman with an arrogant expression widened her eyes in disbelief when she saw her wake up.
Xu Yao stood up, her face pale, when suddenly, memories that did not belong to her, mixed with powerful mental power, flooded her mind.
With the memories came understanding: she had transmigrated.
The owner of this body was also named Xu Yao, an ordinary university student on Cāngmíng Star.
This planet was undergoing a global mutation. Prolonged high temperatures had withered crops. Seawater encroachment had polluted most freshwater sources.
To survive, living beings evolved abilities: attack abilities, support abilities, and more people awakened life abilities, able to conjure a piece of clothing, a water bucket, all sorts of strange things.
The girl before her was named Zhū Sīyǔ, a classmate of the original owner. She had lost to the original owner in a school dance competition and later discovered that the senior she liked, Wú Hàowén, always paid attention to the original owner.
This made the proud Zhū Sīyǔ harbor resentment, often deliberately causing trouble for the original owner.
After the mutation, Zhū Sīyǔ awakened a fire ability, while the original owner, who was always better than her, had not awakened hers yet. This gave Zhū Sīyǔ more opportunities to mock her.
Taking advantage of the original owner carrying supplies, she found her.
This time, the original owner unexpectedly began to awaken a psychic ability.
Seeing this, Zhū Sīyǔ's expression changed drastically. As the original owner was undergoing mutation, she launched a fireball attack.
Although the original owner's mental power offset the attack, the surge in mental power instantly killed her.
And so, Xu Yao arrived.
At this moment, Zhū Sīyǔ also snapped back to reality.
She stared at Xu Yao in surprise, murmuring, "No, how can you still be alive?"
"With just this ability of yours? You think you can kill me?"
Sizing up Zhū Sīyǔ from head to toe, Xu Yao quickly assessed the situation.
Before her transmigration, she was the top equipment master in a full-immersion game. For her, the apocalypse and supernatural abilities were as natural as breathing.
"This ability of mine?" Zhū Sīyǔ looked at the calm Xu Yao, becoming furious, "Such arrogance! I'll show you how I'll kill you with this ability!"
Before her words fell, she directly raised her hand and shot out a fireball.
Seeing the approaching fireball, Xu Yao's heart skipped a beat, and she quickly dodged.
If only her equipment were still here, even just her fire-controlling gloves.
She would definitely teach this ignorant woman a good lesson.
The next second, her hand felt heavy, and a pair of somewhat worn gloves appeared.
Xu Yao looked down, her pupils contracting. Were these not the fire-controlling gloves she forged in her early days?
After she upgraded, these single-attribute gloves had been stored in her workshop warehouse.
How could they be here now?
Before she could ponder further, Zhū Sīyǔ saw her dodge the attack and a pair of gloves appear out of thin air. Enraged, she raised her hand and shot two more fireballs.
"You dare to dodge! Aren't you going to be tough? I want to see what use your awakened cheap gloves are!"
"Too weak." Xu Yao sneered as she looked at the incoming fireballs, quickly putting on the gloves. Then, with a practiced grab, she fused the two fireballs into one in her hand.
Glancing sideways at Zhū Sīyǔ, she slightly raised her chin, "Do you know how to use fire?"
Saying this, amidst Zhū Sīyǔ's shocked expression, Xu Yao flicked her wrist.
The flames, which had been obedient in her hand, instantly transformed into a crimson fire dragon, carrying astonishing heat, its mouth agape, lunging towards Zhū Sīyǔ.
"How is this possible? What is that?" Zhū Sīyǔ exclaimed in disbelief, trying to dodge the approaching fire dragon.
But the fire dragon seemed to have eyes, relentlessly pursuing her.
She tripped on dry branches and fell down miserably, shouting a warning at Xu Yao.
"I warn you, if you dare to hurt me, the Zhu family won't let you go!"
"Oh really? I'd like to see what you can do to me." Xu Yao sneered and snapped her fingers.
The fire dragon circled and lunged directly at Zhū Sīyǔ's face.
Just as the fire dragon was about to engulf Zhū Sīyǔ, a powerful jet of water descended from the sky, barely extinguishing the fire dragon.
"Sīyǔ, Xu Yao, stop this now." A gentle male voice sounded from behind. Xu Yao turned her head to look.
She saw a well-mannered young man wearing gold-rimmed glasses, accompanied by the water ability user who had just intervened, walking over.
It was the senior Zhū Sīyǔ mentioned, Wú Hàowén, who had awakened a healing ability.
As the steam from the extinguished fire dragon dissipated, it revealed a scorched and drenched Zhū Sīyǔ.
Sitting miserably on the ground, she saw Wú Hàowén appear before her and looked at him like a savior, with a semblance of tears about to fall.
"Senior, Xu Yao is bullying me..."
"Sīyǔ, don't make a fuss. How could Xu Yao bully you? She's always avoiding you," Wú Hàowén helped Zhū Sīyǔ up and looked at her disapprovingly.
"How could she not? Look at me, she did all this!"
Zhū Sīyǔ bit her lip aggrievedly, tears streaming down her face, leaving two black streaks, and she leaned against Wú Hàowén as she cried.
Wú Hàowén's eyes flashed with impatience as he subtly dodged, but his voice remained gentle.
"Didn't I tell you we're evacuating soon, and we must unite with our classmates?" Wú Hàowén looked at Zhū Sīyǔ's dirty face, averted his gaze, and cleared his throat as if to cover something up.
"Apologize to Xu Yao, she has a good temper. Let's just forget this happened."
Hearing Wú Hàowén say this, hatred flickered in Zhū Sīyǔ's eyes. She turned her head away, "I won't! Why are you ganging up on me with her?"
Wú Hàowén sighed helplessly at Zhū Sīyǔ and turned to look at Xu Yao.
"Junior Xu Yao, I apologize on behalf of Sīyǔ. I hope you won't hold it against her."
Xu Yao, who had been enjoying the show, was suddenly called out and was taken aback.
What he said was interesting, carrying a mix of saintly father and green tea vibes, quite adept at making grand gestures at others' expense.
The original owner would have endured due to his attitude.
But Xu Yao wouldn't. She sneered, her lips curling up, "I only want to scold people today, so I can't scold you two. Control your dog. Next time she causes trouble, I'll beat you both."
Xu Yao glanced at the two of them dismissively and turned to leave.
Zhū Sīyǔ behind her frantically wanted to say something but was pulled back by an uneasy Wú Hàowén.
Xu Yao ignored the commotion behind her. She seemed to have vaguely sensed her studio just now and needed to find a quiet place to investigate carefully.
Behind the school's teaching building, there was once a small garden. After it was overrun by mutated plants, it formed a small forest, and no one usually went there.
The original owner would go there when she was bullied by Zhū Sīyǔ.
Xu Yao made her way to the garden as if on familiar paths. From a distance, she saw a person lying under a tree.
