While the five of them were roasting fish around the campfire and making fish soup, Chē Yán brought up the matter of building a shelter. Sir Hǎo naturally agreed, saying he would go chop wood after they finished eating and then construct the shelter.
Even though the roasted fish and fish soup lacked salt, everyone ate and drank with a good deal of contentment. In their current situation, having something to eat and drink was wonderful! What more could they ask for than the taste of salt?!
While a long-term lack of salt would undoubtedly cause problems, a day or two without it wouldn't be too detrimental.
After eating and drinking their fill, the five of them, in a grand procession, walked to the edge of the woods. The Four Great Beauties remained where they were, while Sir Hǎo, carrying his axe, entered the woods to chop trees.
He felled one tree after another. Under the strain of such strenuous physical labor, he felt a pang of hunger again, but he endured it as best he could.
He dragged the felled trees out one by one, and then the five of them worked together to drag each tree to the campfire on the beach.
Then, Sir Hǎo cut each tree into two or three sections, making them all the same appropriate length. Next, he used the axe to smash these logs deep into the sand, forming a small enclosure.
Of course, an entranceway for a door was also created.
Following this, Sir Hǎo and the four Great Beauties placed some logs on top of the logs embedded in the sand, thus forming a rudimentary shelter roof.
Sir Hǎo went into the woods alone again and returned with some clay and large banana leaves. He then used the clay to seal the gaps between the logs on the rudimentary shelter roof, and finally covered the very top with many large banana leaves. In this way, the shelter roof began to look presentable.
Next, Sir Hǎo, along with Sū Mèi, Chē Yán, Liǔ Yìjiāo, and Qí Yíngyíng, laid some logs on the ground inside the shelter. This way, instead of a sandy floor, they would have a log floor.
However, sleeping on such logs at night would feel strange, but it was certainly much better than sleeping on the sand pit the previous night!
But there was another problem: the campfire couldn't be moved into the shelter, making it difficult to roast by the fire inside.
To solve this, Sir Hǎo came up with a plan: move two logs near the edge of the shelter floor and then move the outside campfire onto the exposed sand floor of the shelter.
Since the thick logs were difficult to ignite anyway, having a fire inside the shelter for warmth was still feasible.
After finishing these tasks, the five of them were completely exhausted. They relaxed and lay down in a row on the log floor of the shelter, which was a bit small but barely adequate.
Suddenly, raindrops fell on the shelter roof. It was raining indeed! The sound of the raindrops grew denser and heavier; it was raining heavily outside!
"Whether this shelter roof leaks or not will depend on how well it holds up!" Sir Hǎo said, slightly nervous.
"If it doesn't, we'll be drowned rats!" Qí Yíngyíng exclaimed.
"I hope it holds up perfectly!" Sū Mèi prayed.
"It's not leaking yet, so it should be fine!" Chē Yán said, looking up at the shelter roof.
"It's a good thing we finished the shelter in time, otherwise we would definitely be drowned rats!" Liǔ Yìjiāo added her opinion.
"Thank goodness for this axe, otherwise we could only dream of such a fine shelter!" Sir Hǎo remarked.
"Sir Hǎo, I'm starting to believe this axe really did appear out of nowhere!" Qí Yíngyíng said.
"It's good that you believe it," Sir Hǎo replied nonchalantly.
"When you create something else tomorrow, can you do it in front of everyone?" Chē Yán suggested sincerely.
"No problem!" Sir Hǎo readily agreed.
"What should we create tomorrow?" Liǔ Yìjiāo asked with great interest.
"How about creating a helicopter? We could fly home in a helicopter!" Qí Yíngyíng proposed.
"A helicopter is a huge thing, I don't think I can create it," Sir Hǎo guessed. "Besides, one needs to know how to fly a helicopter. What if we end up falling out of the sky mid-flight! If we fall again, we'll surely be smashed to death!"
"I know how to fly a helicopter!" Qí Yíngyíng declared.
"You really do?" Chē Yán looked at her sideways.
"Of course, I'm telling the truth. This lady even has a pilot's license!" Qí Yíngyíng replied proudly.
"Truly amazing! I don't even have a driver's license for a car," Sir Hǎo said.
"But you have your advantages!" Qí Yíngyíng complimented him, which was rare.
"What advantages do I have?" Sir Hǎo asked enthusiastically.
"Your name suits you!" Qí Yíngyíng chuckled.
"How do you know Sir Hǎo's name fits him? Have you tried it out?" Liǔ Yìjiāo teased with a sly smile.
"I'm guessing," Qí Yíngyíng also revealed a sly smile.
"You guys are so boring! Talking about this kind of thing!" Chē Yán teased.
Sū Mèi's pretty face flushed, and she didn't offer any opinion. In fact, among the Four Great Beauties present, she was the first to confirm that Sir Hǎo's name suited him. Although she hadn't tried it herself, she had indeed slept in his arms the entire night before.
Sir Hǎo didn't dwell on this topic, as it wasn't exactly a refined conversation.
Although, if any of the Four Great Beauties, or all of them, wanted to test if his name suited him, he would be very willing, find joy in it, and perhaps develop feelings over time.
