Upon seeing that the Samsara Heavenly Evolution could not be activated again for another seven days, Lin Moyu set his mind at ease and resumed his cultivation. With his improved aptitude, he felt he should be able to break through to Qi Refining Level 2 today.
As Lin Moyu activated the elementary spirit-gathering array in his home and began to cultivate, his mother outside the door, who had been worried that her son might do something rash, finally let out a sigh of relief.
"Cultivate well. That girl is not someone within your reach." Lin Ruyu, a cultivator at Qi Refining Level 9, sighed outside the door and walked away.
Inside the room, Lin Moyu's vital energy and blood surged violently. A blood-red reflection emerged within his sea of Qi—that was the Blood Spirit Root Lin Moyu had obtained through the Samsara Heavenly Evolution.
Previously, Lin Moyu could only grind through his cultivation purely by spending time. Now, having obtained the Blood Spirit Root, even though his cultivation technique was not a perfect match, his cultivation speed had increased severalfold.
After a night of cultivation, Lin Moyu felt that his sea of Qi had clearly expanded twofold, and the status panel had also changed:
Name: Lin Moyu
Aptitude: Blood Spirit Root
Cultivation: Qi Refining Level 2
Fate: Samsara Heavenly Evolution
Samsara Warehouse: Slaughter Blood Lotus (Golden)
Samsara Heavenly Evolution Attempts: 0 (Available in six days)
Lin Moyu stood up, stretched his limbs, turned off the elementary spirit-gathering array, and stepped out of the room to find his mother, who had already prepared breakfast.
Although Lin Moyu carried the memories of a dozen years from his previous life, because he had been an orphan in that life, he cherished this hard-earned maternal love all the more.
"Mom..." Before Lin Moyu could finish, Lin Ruyu gestured for him to sit down and eat first.
The place where Lin Moyu lived was a small world named Shenzhou. Because the resources in this world were not particularly abundant, the supreme guardian ruling over this heaven and earth was merely a cultivator in the Nascent Soul Realm.
Although his mother's cultivation was not exceptionally high, she was still considered a formidable existence in this small city. Yet, who was to blame when the fellow Lin Moyu had provoked happened to have a father at the Foundation Establishment stage?
Lin Moyu sat down and ate the spiritual food his mother had prepared. The two of them did not converse as they usually did, eating in silence instead.
After ten short minutes or so, once Lin Moyu and his mother had finished eating, Lin Ruyu looked at the grown-up Lin Moyu and said, "You are grown up now, and I can't help you with too many things anymore. Now that you have been expelled from Huayang Cultivation High School, I can only find two paths for you."
Lin Moyu nodded. His burning affection for that girl had vanished, leaving only a very strange sensation that had lingered shortly after the Samsara Heavenly Evolution ended—a feeling somewhat resembling the divinity possessed by the ancient deities recorded in textbooks!
Lin Moyu did not understand why he would think of such things, but his thoughts were quickly interrupted by his mother's voice: "My connections can only get you an apprenticeship at a talisman shop or send you to a regular high school. Choose for yourself!"
Without hesitation, Lin Moyu replied, "I choose to go to a regular high school. After all, I don't have much cultivation aptitude, and my future cultivation won't reach any great heights anyway."
Lin Ruyu nodded. As long as he was willing, she could accept whatever he chose; being an ordinary person was quite good too.
As for Lin Moyu's true thoughts, naturally, he intended to play the pig to eat the tiger, using a regular high school to raise his realm first before anything else.
After making his decision, Lin Moyu was taken by his mother that very morning to Heqing High School, entering Class 5 of the second year as a transfer student."Hello everyone, my name is Lin Moyu. I look forward to your guidance in the time ahead!" After Lin Moyu finished his self-introduction, the teacher assigned him a seat near the back.
Once seated, Lin Moyu looked somewhat puzzled at his deskmate's seat. Books were neatly placed on the desk, but the owner was nowhere to be seen.
Leaning back against his desk, Lin Moyu looked at a reasonably attractive girl sitting behind him and asked, "Classmate, did my deskmate not come today?"
"Ah!" The girl, who had been secretly glancing at Lin Moyu, was startled by the sudden question. Recovering herself, she said,
"Your deskmate? She's probably still standing in the corner of the restroom as a punishment." The girl said this with an indifferent shrug.
Lin Moyu frowned in incomprehension, but still politely muttered a thank-you before turning back around.
Looking down at the open textbook on his deskmate's desk, he spotted a neat, elegant name: "Yun Rumo". Coupling this cute name with the nonchalant expression of the girl in the back row, he roughly guessed that his deskmate was likely being bullied.
Right, Lin Moyu suddenly remembered that when his cultivation broke through to Qi Refining Level 2 this morning, his mother hadn't said a single word about it. *Could it be that my heaven's secrets are being shielded?*
Lin Moyu realized that ever since his aptitude improved last night, not only had his cultivation speed increased, but his spiritual perception, divine sense, and other faculties had all grown significantly stronger as well.
Since ordinary high schools did not offer courses on cultivation, the lessons taught in class were entirely basic subjects. After listening for a short while, Lin Moyu drifted off to sleep.
The lecturing teacher was well aware of Lin Moyu's special background and couldn't be bothered to discipline this well-connected student. This, however, left the other students utterly shocked to see Lin Moyu sleeping soundly in the class of the strictest teacher without any consequences.
I do not know how much time had passed when Lin Moyu felt a very gentle touch and heard a soft, timid voice.
"Classmate, could you make a little room for me to get in?" A petite girl stood beside Lin Moyu, looking at him with an anxious expression.
A nearby classmate watched and chimed in with a resentful sneer, "Well now, little Yun, seeing as you've already stood in the restroom for an entire period, another period won't kill you. If you wake him up, he might just curse you out, or worse, beat you..."
"What are you all making a fuss about?" Lin Moyu woke up, glared at the group of people, and said.
Perhaps because of the lingering mystery surrounding his transfer, the other students hadn't quite figured out Lin Moyu's background yet and didn't dare provoke him, hastily flashing ingratiating smiles.
Lin Moyu looked down at the little girl before him, who looked on the verge of tears, and said, "What's there to be in such a rush about? Is your rush more important than my sleep?"
Hearing Lin Moyu's words, the girl looked up at the clock on the wall and saw that the next class was about to start. Her eye rims turned red, and shimmering tears began to well up in her eyes.
"Please, just let me in," Yun Rumo said, her voice trembling slightly.
Seeing that the little girl was actually about to cry, Lin Moyu put aside his teasing manner and obediently made some space for Yun Rumo to squeeze past.
Seeing the opening, Yun Rumo quickly slipped sideways through the gap and frantically began rummaging through her desk. If she couldn't find what she was looking for, she would undoubtedly be in for another beating today!
