Chapter 95

Looking at the marks on the envelope’s seal, He Yingzhen felt as though Hechengming had been deliberately guarding against her. Yet, Hechengming could never have imagined that she would manage to retrieve his letter from the mailbox. He Yingzhen tore open the envelope and began reading the letter word for word. She had barely made it halfway through when she grew so incensed that she nearly shredded the paper. Hechengming, who always kept a cold face and refused to say a single word more than necessary to her, had actually been sharing his experiences on the battlefield with Sutan, telling her everything without reservation. Those items delivered a couple of days ago had indeed been sent by Sutan—nothing more than some chili sauce and beef sauce—yet Hechengming had shared them with others, claiming he was overjoyed to receive anything from her while on the front lines. Seeing that Sutan was planning to apply for the film academy, Hechengming actually felt there was a gap between them; He Yingzhen found this laughable. Sutan might have a high school diploma, but she had been out of school for years. Back in her own day, even with her total focus on her studies, she hadn't managed to get into university and had ended up in nursing school instead. How could someone like Sutan, with no background to speak of, possibly succeed? It was a complete fantasy.
