Wei Chengliang stumbled into a roadside tree, spun around, and nearly tumbled into a ditch. He slumped against the trunk, eyes half-lidded, saliva drooling from his mouth in a repulsive display. When Chi Yin and two of her trainees passed by, Wei Chengliang seemed to recognize them; he looked up, his gaze fixing on Chi Yin with the intensity of a demon risen from hell. The three of them quickened their pace. Once they had left Wei Chengliang far behind, one of the trainees mentioned that Wei had been spending his days lurking in the shade near the Wei family’s ancestral graves, watching them. "He’s always got a bottle of liquor, drinking as he watches," the trainee said. "I don’t know what he finds so interesting. He’s there every single day, sometimes for half an hour, sometimes for two."
