Yuanchu was holding Han Xinnian's cane, the top of which was crackling with flames that flickered in the light. Han Xinnian had her arm wrapped around Yuanchu's shoulder, staring cautiously at their surroundings as if terrified that something might lunge out from the unlit corners. Meanwhile, Moran was on Yuanchu's other side, looking completely drained—his face as pale as a ghost's, his mouth puckered like a seventy-year-old grandfather's. "If I'd known, I would've just used Han Xinnian's cane straight away... Right, why didn't I think of that earlier..."
