Fesili told her to return to the starship to rest and let him handle the rest. How could she possibly leave under such circumstances?
Doctor Tang Yi also came over to urge her to go back and rest, noting that she could not be of much help just standing there. After saying this, he hurried off to draw blood from several soldiers in more serious condition for testing.
Muxi bit her lip and shook her head firmly. "No, I cannot leave. This all started because of me; I must stay and face it." Her voice trembled slightly, yet it was filled with unwavering determination. Even if she had to face the soldiers’ gazes of resentment or agony, she was determined to stay. She took the initiative to assist the medical staff, helping to pass water and medicine.
None of the soldiers uttered a word of blame toward her. The god-tier healing effects of the earth mushrooms were plain for all to see. As for the diarrhea, they simply assumed it was a physical reaction; after all, the food had been boiled directly without prior processing, so some side effects were only natural. Of course, some harbored resentment, but they did not voice it. Even some soldiers who were closer to her comforted her and urged her to go back and rest.
Muxi felt deeply moved. She had not expected that while these soldiers were suffering from physical discomfort, not only did no one blame her, but some even took the time to comfort her and suggest she rest. Her eyes turned slightly red, and she shook her head gently.
Not long after taking the medicine, the symptoms of most soldiers gradually improved. Although they were still physically weak, they were no longer in the agonizing state they had been in before. Seeing the improvement, Fesili walked over to Muxi’s side. Looking at her exhausted yet persistent demeanor, he did not try to persuade her further. Perhaps keeping her busy and giving her no time to overthink would make her feel better.
...
Tang Yi hurried over with the blood test results, a look of relief on his face. "The results are out, everyone rest assured. It has been proven once again that these earth mushrooms are perfectly fine." He held up the report and said in a loud, clear voice so that the surrounding soldiers could hear.
Upon hearing this, the crowd was stunned for a moment, and doubt flickered in the eyes of many who had been resentful. "What? The mushrooms are fine? Then why did they torture us like this?" Some soldiers who had been weakly leaning against the side perked up as well, straining their ears to hear the explanation.
Seeing this, Tang Yi explained in detail: "The reason for the diarrhea is actually because the mushrooms are helping your bodies detoxify. They contain certain special components that flush out toxins accumulated in the body. While the process is a bit unpleasant, it is highly beneficial for your health."
The soldiers looked at one another, their reactions mixed. A few straight-talking soldiers shouted out, "Man, this detoxification method is way too rough! My stomach almost made me pass out from the pain earlier!" Someone nearby nodded in agreement with a bitter expression. "Yeah, I really thought I’d been poisoned; it scared the hell out of me."
"I told you these mushrooms had such good healing effects; they were bound to be fine."
At this moment, an old soldier said slowly, "We've endured all sorts of hardships on the battlefield; a bit of diarrhea is nothing."
A young soldier frowned and complained, "Forget it! The suffering I just went through—I’d rather go kill a few bugs in battle than ever experience that again!"
Another younger soldier nearby teased him with a laugh, "Stop whining. Didn't you hear Doctor Tang say this detox is good for your body? Maybe you'll be able to kill a few more enemies on the battlefield in the future."
"Go away, stop with the snide remarks. If you're so tough, why were you groaning and complaining about your stomach earlier?" The teased soldier pretended to be angry and gave the other a shove.
Many soldiers who had been resentful began to find the logic sound. The anger in their hearts slowly faded, replaced by guilt.
Sure enough, an hour later, the condition of the soldiers who had suffered from diarrhea improved significantly. The pale faces began to regain a bit of color, their hunched, pained postures gradually straightened, and the intermittent moaning died down. Some soldiers tried moving their bodies and were pleasantly surprised to find that they felt more energetic than before.
"I have to say, after this detox, my body feels much lighter. The suffering earlier wasn't for nothing." Other soldiers, though still a bit weak, could feel the discomfort fading bit by bit and breathed a sigh of relief.
Those who had harbored resentment stood up one after another to apologize to Muxi. Although they hadn't said anything to her face, they had indeed blamed her in their hearts.
Muxi’s heart finally settled, and she let out a long sigh of relief. Seeing her tense expression soften, Fesili ruffled her hair. "Feeling relieved now?" Muxi nodded repeatedly. As long as it wasn't her fault, that was all that mattered. If she had caused something to happen to over ten thousand soldiers, her guilt would have been unbearable.
The adjutant smiled and smoothed things over: "This could be considered a blessing in disguise."
...
Once everyone had recovered, Fesili decisively ordered everyone to pack their gear and prepare to relocate. These mushrooms were so miraculous that they had to collect all of them before the Diluo Empire discovered them. They assumed the Diluo Empire had gone through the trouble of lurking here for this very reason; now that they had arrived first, they would not yield even a fraction to them.
Following the order, the soldiers moved quickly, organizing their packs in an orderly fashion. The camp suddenly became busy again. Muxi followed Fesili onto the starship. As soon as she stepped inside, the fresh air hit her, a stark contrast to the foul-smelling, diarrhea-plagued atmosphere of the camp. She couldn't help but take several deep breaths of the clean air. Seeing her adorable reaction, a flicker of a smile crossed Fesili’s eyes.
As soon as Muxi reached her room, she headed straight for the shower. Once she relaxed, she felt like she had been thoroughly marinated in the scent of the camp. The soldiers were efficient, and by the time she finished showering, all the tents and gear outside had been packed away.
At the same time, the adjutant’s voice came over the starship’s intercom: "Reporting to the commander, all baggage has been packed, and the crew is ready." After the announcement played three times, everyone boarded the starship in order.
The starship moved at high speed; it took less than two minutes for Muxi to travel over twenty kilometers. After landing, Fesili was the first to step off the starship, scanning his surroundings with a vigilant gaze. The environment here looked much better than the previous camp; the area was filled with undulating, strange rock formations and sparse vegetation.
While observing, he gave instructions to the soldiers coming out behind him, arranging for everyone to quickly establish a new temporary camp. Muxi also disembarked, looking around this new place with curiosity. A breeze blew past, kicking up a bit of dust. She couldn't help but cough lightly. Hearing the sound, Fesili turned toward her, a trace of concern in his eyes. He walked over to her and stood still.
"The wind and sand are a bit heavy here. You should go back inside the starship."
Muxi shook her head and said with a smile, "I'm fine. I just want to walk around and get familiar with the environment."
