The massive lion stood perfectly still, its golden eyes scanning everyone who passed. As Yangzi walked by, his heart hammered against his ribs; he stumbled, nearly falling over. Yet, the lion remained unmoved. Once he finally made it inside, Yangzi exhaled, his back already soaked with cold sweat.
The cave was surprisingly spacious and dry. Muxi had already found a corner to sit in, rubbing her sore legs. Xiang Mingzheng was busy scouting the perimeter for potential dangers. The cave was clean, which seemed highly unusual for the lair of a wild beast.
