Chapter 4

Muxi recalled the description of this plot arc in the book: the Third Legion is ambushed by a massive Zerg army and suffers near-total annihilation. Fesili, the youngest commander in the Empire, detonates his mecha to stall for time and is left with no remains.
No one suspected that this was a premeditated plot against him.
As the female lead’s "white moonlight," Fesili’s death hits her hard. She refuses to believe he is dead and ventures to this barren planet to find him—using the search for the original owner of this body as a cover.
During her search, she inadvertently discovers signal jammers buried underground. It is only after she unearths over a dozen of them that the Empire finally takes notice. Only then, upon reopening the investigation, do they learn that the Diluo Empire had a hand in the battle.
The female lead also discovers a type of mutated plant. After examination by experts, it is found to have high medicinal value, capable of enhancing the immunity and Mental Power of infants. This discovery catapults her into becoming a celebrated female in the Interstellar Alliance, doted upon by various powerful figures.
As for the original owner, she didn't even leave behind a complete body, and even after death, she was periodically dragged out to be maligned. The Mu Family publicly declared her a vicious sister who was jealous of Mu Yan getting accepted into the Federation’s First Guide Alliance. They claimed she had not only torn up Mu Yan's acceptance letter but had also colluded with Abandoned Beasts to kidnap her, only to be harmed by those same beasts in the end. The original owner became known as a villainous female who would stop at nothing out of jealousy.
The female lead, Mu Yan, even feigned tears, saying, "It’s my fault. If I weren't so outstanding, my sister wouldn't have..." Her words appeared self-reproachful, but in reality, they were cementing the "crimes" of the original owner.
Muxi clicked her tongue. Since she was here now, she would take all of those "rewards" for herself.
It was late, so Muxi washed up in the bathroom and went to sleep.
The next morning, just as she woke up, a knock sounded at the door. An unfamiliar soldier stood there holding a bag, his chest bearing a logistics label.
"Hello. These are clothes prepared for you. The army doesn't stock female clothing, so this is the smallest size uniform. See if it fits."
Muxi felt a surge of joy. She had been worrying about not having anything to change into, and here someone had brought it to her. She reached out to take the bag and thanked him in a soft, sweet voice, "Thank you. Sorry for the trouble."
The soldier’s face flushed at her delicate, gentle tone, and he stammered, "Y-you're welcome."
"Could you please inform the Commander? I have something important to discuss with him."
After the soldier left, she took the clothes into the bathroom to change. Even the smallest size uniform looked a bit oversized on her, hanging loosely, but it held a certain unique appeal. Muxi tidied up in front of the mirror and opened the door to leave.
The soldier had returned. Seeing her, a flash of admiration crossed his eyes. He quickly gestured for her to follow, his tone even softer than before. "Miss Muxi, the Commander instructed me to bring you to breakfast once you woke up."
Muxi nodded slightly and followed him toward the starship's mess hall. Along the way, many soldiers couldn't help but steal glances at her. Most hadn't seen her face the night before; now, her delicate and lovely appearance immediately captured their full attention. However, they only watched from afar, not daring to disturb her.
Before long, Muxi arrived at the dining area. Several people were already eating—captains, by the looks of them. Muxi felt a bit reserved at first, but thankfully, after they nodded in greeting, they continued eating quietly. No one disturbed her until she finished her meal. Once she rose to leave, the previously quiet room erupted into whispers.
Muxi hadn't walked far when a tall, imposing figure approached, his crisp uniform radiating an air of authority. Muxi looked up, meeting Fesili’s calm, unfathomable eyes.
Fesili’s gaze lingered on her for a moment, and a fleeting, indiscernible expression seemed to cross his stern face. "Finished eating?"
Muxi nodded gently, her voice still soft, "Yes, thank you for the arrangements, Commander."
"You wanted to see me?" Fesili looked away, his voice indifferent.
Muxi nodded again. "I have something very important to tell you. Could we speak somewhere else?"
Fesili’s probing gaze returned to her, observing as she nervously gripped the hem of her jacket. He did not refuse, leading her into an empty room nearby.
"What is it?"
"My Mental Power can detect signal jammers nearby."
Fesili raised an eyebrow, a flash of surprise appearing in his eyes, his grim expression tightening with gravity. "You can detect jammers?" His voice remained flat, revealing no emotion.
Muxi met his gaze, her eyes clear and resolute. She said in a soft, clear voice, "Yes, Commander." This wasn't exactly a lie; her mental projection could sense nearby threats, and the jammers were detectable.
"Are you certain of the location?"
"Do you trust me?"
Muxi hadn't expected him to believe her so easily. Fesili’s light-colored eyes flickered before returning to normal, his tone earnest. "I do."
Being trusted so directly for the first time felt quite rewarding.
"I can only sense the general direction; I can't pinpoint the exact location yet."
Fesili nodded; that was enough. They had used the detector that morning and hadn't found anything.
The two stepped out of the starship. Many soldiers passing by couldn't help but look on with curiosity, but deterred by the Commander’s authority, they didn't linger, offering hurried salutes before walking away quickly.
Fesili took long strides, and Muxi had to nearly jog to keep up. Her face flushed hot from the exertion, and the uneven terrain made her struggle, yet she followed silently without a word.
Fesili noticed her effort, paused, and turned to look at her. A rare hint of concern softened his stern features. "Can you keep up?"
Muxi hurriedly nodded, her breath uneven as she replied, "It's fine, I can keep up." She wanted to stay with the army, so she had to increase her training. Otherwise, with a constitution that left her gasping after a few steps, she would only be a burden to others.
Fesili said no more, but slowed his pace significantly.
They soon arrived at a barren patch of land a kilometer away from the encampment. Several sentries were on guard nearby. The area had recently seen a massive battle; the ground was littered with the severed limbs and remains of the Zerg. Although Muxi hadn't seen it happen, the sight of the blood-soaked soil, not yet dry, showed just how intense yesterday’s fighting had been.
Muxi stepped into the sticky, dark mud. The slick, viscous sensation made her skin crawl, and a chill rose from the soles of her feet straight to her head.
Fesili noticed her distress and frowned. He rarely interacted with females and had forgotten how timid they could be; this scene was likely terrifying for her. Recalling the image of the young female crying in fear the night before, he felt a pang of regret.
"Are you alright?" Though his voice was cold, Muxi heard a hint of concern.
She closed her eyes, trying to build up her mental defenses; she had to adapt. "I'm fine, just let me catch my breath." Muxi’s tone was firm as she took a step forward.
After walking two steps, she stopped and turned to him. "Um... could I hold onto your arm?"
Who would understand the feeling of blood and mud oozing into your shoes with every step!
Fesili’s gaze fell first on her trembling legs, then moved to her pitiful face. His heart softened, and he scooped her up into his arms.
Muxi: "..."
His arm strength was quite good!
"Which direction do we go?"
