Towering, majestic stone pillars stood in a spacious plaza.
Nine spectator stands grew out from the sides of these pillars, rising in staggered tiers. Supported by the pillars, they held up a battle arena at the summit that seemed capable of blocking out the sky. Two stone carvings—a dragon and a phoenix—guarded opposite sides, their sharp eyes fixed on the heavens, so lifelike they seemed ready to cry out in the high air and bear witness to the grandeur of the assembly.
