Shuqi led Tao Xiaotao to a corner of the Spirit Herb Garden, where a dense patch of bushes grew. Shuqi parted the tall grass to reveal a strange monster beast—neither quite bird nor snake—crouching among the foliage. It locked eyes with the two of them, its gaze clear and bright, and upon closer inspection, even seemed to carry a hint of ingratiating warmth.
Shuqi stepped a little closer. "We're leaving now. Be careful from here on out. Make sure you use concealment where you need to—I've just planted some more spirit plants here."
