At this moment, Asgard remained in a state of military readiness. Inside the Golden Palace, however, the gods were embroiled in an argument over who exactly their enemy was. Led by the god of light, Baldr, many of the gods believed this was all a cunning ruse by Loki. After all, Baldr himself had once died at the hands of Loki’s trickery, his body pierced by mistletoe. Furthermore, Baldr was incensed that his own mother, Frigg, was now siding with Loki. Given these factors, Baldr argued that it was entirely possible Loki had sacrificed Garmr to distract them. Loki, that sly god of fire, had always been adept at manipulating everything from the shadows to plunge the gods into chaos. Baldr’s voice echoed through the hall, his words filled with firmness and resolve: "We must be vigilant against every move Loki makes; we cannot allow his schemes to succeed again."
