"Marriage can wait!"
Li Shiqi spoke up. "I've been away from Dragon City for too long. Now that I'm back, I'd like to ask—where is my sister, Li Weiwei?"
"I hear she's at Dragon City University!" Old Master Jiang chuckled. "Now that you're back, why don't you bring your sister and come stay with my Jiang Family? After all, we'll all be family soon enough!"
"No need!" Li Shiqi waved a hand. "I'm heading straight to Dragon City University!"
With that, Li Shiqi turned and left.
He knew the abacus Old Master Jiang was clicking in his head all too well.
The Li Family's Ancient Medical Prescription was the hottest commodity in all of Dragon City.
Watching Li Shiqi's retreating figure, Old Master Jiang frowned.
"Grandpa, he's just a poor nobody right now. Why are you making me marry him?" Jiang Hong asked with dissatisfaction.
"What do you know? If we can get our hands on that Ancient Medical Prescription, our Jiang Family will soar to the skies!" Old Master Jiang declared. "As for the wedding, once we have the prescription, whether you marry him or not will be entirely up to you!"
Jiang Hong had a sudden realization, a smile blooming on her face.
She had thought her grandfather was going to sacrifice her to elevate the Jiang Family.
Turns out her old man was playing a game of getting something for nothing.
"Oh, and you mustn't mock him these next few days!" Old Master Jiang instructed. "You must win his heart and get the Ancient Medical Prescription. Succeed, and you'll be the CEO of our Jiang Family Pharmaceuticals!"
Jiang Hong was startled inwardly. She hadn't expected her grandfather to be willing to invest so heavily.
He was certainly going to great lengths for this Ancient Medical Prescription.
Dragon City University.
Right outside the school gates, just as Li Weiwei walked out, several blonde women approached her. "Did you bring the money?"
"I don't have any money!" Li Weiwei took a few steps back, her eyes dodging nervously.
These girls were also students at Dragon City University. Word was they had taken a sworn brother who ran with the local toughs, and they frequently shook Li Weiwei down.
"No money?" The tattooed woman grabbed a handful of Li Weiwei's hair. "What did I say yesterday? You dare come to school without money?"
Outside Dragon City University, quite a few male students watched with a sense of pity.
Li Weiwei was quite pretty, and her pitiful appearance stirred their protective instincts.
Yet they knew these women had a sworn brother who was utterly ruthless—not someone they could afford to cross.
Another blonde woman stepped up and delivered a vicious slap. "Stinking bitch, putting on that pitiful act for who to see?"
The tattooed woman didn't hesitate at all, following up with a kick.
Bang...
Right at that moment, a figure materialized in front of Li Weiwei and directly kicked the tattooed woman flying.
"You fucking—" the blonde woman started to say.
Before she could finish, Li Shiqi struck her across the face with a hard slap.
"Holy shit, who is that?"
Inside Dragon City University, many of the male students exchanged shocked glances.
This felt utterly satisfying. These girls constantly bullied Li Weiwei right at the school gates, and while the students harbored anger, they had lacked the courage to speak up.
Now someone had actually rushed in and beaten those girls up.
"Brother?" Li Weiwei stared at the person before her in disbelief.
Back when they were preparing to flee Dragon City with their assets, she had gotten separated from Li Shiqi.
In the end, word reached her that Li Shiqi had been hunted down and killed.
Hearing that word, Li Shiqi's frame trembled slightly.
For three whole years, not a moment had passed without him worrying about his sister.
"With your brother here, from this day on, no one will ever bully you again!" Li Shiqi's voice was resolute, carrying a trace of lingering anger.
"You little punk, you wait!" The tattooed woman threatened before scurrying off in a pathetic retreat.
Even she hadn't expected Li Weiwei to have an older brother, let alone one this aggressive.
Yet she had never suffered any setbacks at Dragon City University before; today she had truly lost face.
"Brother, go! You need to leave Dragon City right now!" Li Weiwei urged anxiously.
"Don't worry, I can handle a few punks like that!" Li Shiqi's expression softened as he reached out to stroke Li Weiwei's hair.
"I'm not talking about them! I mean the Dragon City Lu Family!" Li Weiwei blurted out anxiously. "They haven't made a move against me in the past three years—they must have been trying to draw you back out!"
"The Dragon City Lu Family?" Li Shiqi's eyes turned deep. Three years ago, his father had been framed and thrown into prison by the Lu Family.
And those who had hunted him down must have been sent by the Lu Family as well.
After a brief pause, Li Shiqi's gaze cleared. "Don't worry, even the Lu Family can't touch me. Everything the Li Family has lost, I will take back piece by piece!"
"But..." Li Weiwei wanted to say more, but seeing Li Shiqi's unshakeable resolve, she found herself unable to argue further.
Leaving Dragon City University, Li Weiwei brought Li Shiqi back to their shared apartment.
Along the way, Li Shiqi learned about Li Weiwei's life over the past three years, his heart aching with every detail.
As it turned out, Li Weiwei had supported herself through work-study programs over the last three years, washing dishes in restaurants just to scrape together enough for living expenses.
Meanwhile, the remainder of the Li Family's assets had all been swallowed up by the Jiang Family.
Back in the day, their families had been on good terms. Not only had the Jiang Family failed to offer a helping hand, but they had even kicked them while they were down.
Thinking of this, Li Shiqi clenched his fists. Whatever the Li Family had lost, he would make them pay back a thousand, ten thousand fold.
As soon as they entered the shared apartment, they saw a young woman cooking a hot pot, looking quite carefree and lively.
"Weiwei, is this your boyfriend?" Shen Ruofang glanced at Li Shiqi, looking a bit awkward.
She and Li Weiwei were roommates, and they were very close.
"He's my brother!" Li Weiwei said awkwardly.
"Your brother?" Shen Ruofang frowned, glancing sideways at Li Shiqi. "You're a pretty lousy brother, aren't you? Why are you only showing up to find her now? Do you have any idea how much she gets bullied at school every single day?"
"It's my fault. It won't happen again!" Li Shiqi offered a bitter smile. For the past three years on Kunlun Mountain, he had wanted to come down, but the Kunlun Immortaless had stopped him, saying his Dragon Origin Formula had not yet reached the highest realm.
"Ruofang!" Li Weiwei tugged at Shen Ruofang's sleeve.
Only then did Shen Ruofang say, "Well, I've already made the hot pot. Let's all eat together!"
She knew about Li Weiwei's family situation and didn't harbor too much blame toward Li Shiqi.
It was just that she had been a witness to all the hardship Li Weiwei had endured over the years.
Halfway through the meal, Li Shiqi looked at Shen Ruofang. "Have you had irregular periods lately?"
"This—" Shen Ruofang's old face flushed red. "How did you know?"
"I could tell by looking at you," Li Shiqi replied casually.
"Brother, is there anything you can do?" Li Weiwei blinked. "Ruofang is my best friend. If she hadn't helped me out over the years, I probably wouldn't have made it through!"
Shen Ruofang looked over at Li Shiqi as well, a flicker of anticipation in her eyes.
She only knew the Li Family was in the pharmaceutical business; she had no idea Li Shiqi knew medicine too.
"I can, but it requires taking off your clothes. I don't know if you'd mind?" Li Shiqi stated bluntly.
As for Shen Ruofang, he felt quite grateful toward her; she was closer to him than actual family.
