What should I do after leaving the Snow Goose Adventurer Party?
Linda looked up at the starry night sky, feeling a hint of bewilderment.
It was just like a prisoner released after a three-year sentence, clutching their freedom yet having no idea what to do with it.
With the night breeze blowing against his face, he walked out of the upscale residential area where the wealthy lived.
Linda gradually made up his mind.
He was going to continue being an adventurer after all.
His mind was packed with walkthroughs and clearance strategies; if he could just find a few teammates willing to follow orders, clearing the top floors might be a stretch, but pushing through to the thirtieth or fortieth floor was entirely possible.
What if his future party managed to surpass the floor reached by the Snow Goose Adventurer Party—would Leia be so furious she'd bite him?
Linda had never really argued back with her, nor had he ever seen her completely lose her composure.
The thought was actually quite intriguing.
Ding-dong.
An auditory hallucination rang in his ears.
An icon shaped like an email popped up in the bottom right corner of Linda's field of vision.
"Could this piece-of-trash system of mine finally be activating?"
Linda's eyes lit up, and his mood improved somewhat.
For three years, the system had remained completely gray with no response to any attempts to click it, and he had pretty much given up all hope.
He focused his thoughts on opening the email, and a golden envelope popped up.
A line of text appeared before Linda:
Item: [Divine Invitation]
Quality: Mythical
Content: He from the Divine Realm has extended an invitation to you. Do you accept?
Yes / No
Linda chose "Yes" without a moment's hesitation.
An invitation of Mythical quality was far too precious to waste.
The moment he clicked "Yes," the invitation vanished from the system interface, transforming into a streak of golden light that enveloped Linda's body.
In the silent night, Linda's figure vanished into thin air from where he stood.
The scene in his vision changed.
Holding his slightly dizzy head, Linda looked around.
It was pitch black, with neither stars nor moon overhead.
It felt as though he had stepped inside a sheet of black paper.
In this bizarre space, a stone chair sat directly ahead of him.
A man was seated upon it.
A majestic voice echoed through the space:
"Hero, you have finally arrived. This deity has awaited you for millions of years!"
Hero?
Me?
Linda blinked in confusion.
Does this mean that after three years, the perks for being an otherworldly transmigrator have finally arrived?
Meanwhile, back at the Snow Goose Adventurer Party's villa, in Linda's room.
Papers covered in all sorts of data were scattered across the floor.
On the desk, the water in the cup had long since gone cold.
Leia stood there blankly, her fiery red long hair somewhat disheveled.
She had kept her back turned to the bedroom door for nearly half an hour, yet Linda still hadn't returned.
A pang of panic welled up in the depths of her heart.
She couldn't help but wonder: was Linda actually serious?
Just because she chewed him out a few times, he was going to quit the party?
When she heard Linda say he was leaving, Leia had been stunned for a moment, feeling a strange ache in her chest that almost made her turn around and pull Linda back.
—Fortunately, she had managed to hold back.
Why should she bow her head to that Linda anyway? It was Linda himself who couldn't keep up with the levels, so why on earth did she feel like she was the one in the wrong?
Besides, she never actually intended to kick Linda out. Bringing out Felix's resume was just meant to scare Linda a little, so he would agree to enter the ninth floor tomorrow.
Did he really need to overreact this much?
Leia looked at the papers scattered all over the floor, casually picked one up, and after glancing at it for a moment, felt her head start to throbbing.
What on earth was all this? Did Linda spend every day tinkering with this garbage just to humor her?
It was filled with things she couldn't understand—things like HP, MP, STR, tanking, generating aggro, and phase two featured massive amounts of calculation formulas that made her eyes swim just looking at them.
Annoyed, Leia slammed the door and strode into the living room.
"What's wrong? Who managed to upset our esteemed captain?"
Aiko was applying cucumber slices to her face. Glancing sideways, she saw Leia wearing a grim expression, looking as though everyone in the world owed her eight million gold coins.
The heavy atmosphere instantly permeated the air.
Leia said nothing, sitting gloomily on the sofa as she picked up one of Clrona's comic books and flipped through it in agitation. Her eyes weren't even on the pages; she was just turning them over and over.
Aiko recalled Linda's strange behavior earlier and sensed that something wasn't right.
After a long silence, Leia spoke in an offhand tone: "Linda quit the party."
"What?"
Aiko blinked, instinctively wanting to ask what had happened between them in that room. But catching sight of Leia's dark expression, she forcefully swallowed the words back down.
As one of the veteran members of the Snow Goose Adventurer Party, Aiko knew Leia's personality well—spoiled, willful, and quick-tempered. With just a little thought, she could roughly figure out what had happened.
Leia's terrible attitude toward Linda wasn't a matter of a day or two; it was just that everyone assumed Linda had the patience of a saint and wouldn't quit over such trivial matters.
"Linda quit the party? Awesome!" Clrona, who was building a monster out of building blocks nearby, cheered instead.
She scrambled back to her room, emerged clutching a large box of board games, and looked at them with sparkling eyes: "Wanna play together? Forget about that useless trashy middle-aged uncle Linda, it's even better that he's gone!"
Seeing someone support her, Leia's mood eased considerably.
Outside of the Snow Goose Adventurer Party, no other top-tier party would take in a level 15 Healer like Linda.
Once that guy got a rude awakening out there, he'd definitely come crawling back with his tail between his legs.
Right. There was nothing to worry about.
Leia smiled and sat down opposite Clrona. "What game is this? It looks pretty fun."
"Hero Versus Dragon. I'm playing the Hero, and you're the evil dragon." Clrona excitedly held up a small Hero figurine and pushed the dragon figurine toward Leia.
"Is it really okay to just ignore Linda like this?" Aiko, the blonde mage lady dressed in a pristine white dress with an impressively endowed chest, hesitated slightly. "At least Linda contributed to the party."
Her muttered complaint wasn't loud, but Leia's ears were as sharp as a cat's.
Aiko strongly suspected that Leia wasn't actually paying attention to Clrona's game at all; this wretch had her ears perked up like a radar, waiting to see if anyone would blame her for driving Linda away.
"Hmph, let that Linda quit if he wants! Just you wait, in a few days he'll be right back begging this lady to take him back!"
Leia spoke deliberately loud, making herself sound entirely justified.
Aiko lowered her head to mask the sneer on her face, cursing Leia up and down in her heart.
Keep dreaming!
With that pushover's personality, he wouldn't leave unless he was pushed to the absolute limit.
Usually, Aiko would drop hints to Leia, telling her to lay off a bit because Linda was already trying his hardest and everyone needed to be understanding.
Otherwise, if she chased Linda away, where was she supposed to find such a convenient and entertaining toy?
Her health wasn't great, and Linda would wash her feet every single night!
Looking down at the back of Linda's head as that poor dog diligently massaged her feet and pressed whatever pressure points, Aiko felt absolute bliss—both mentally and physically.
Linda also cooked meals and made strategy guides, all for the lowest pay among the main party members.
She would never find another pushover like him.
That was why Aiko held a massive grudge against this little pug-faced Leia.
Yet Leia was smiling now, convincing herself that she was completely in the right.
That trivial Linda would be back by tomorrow evening at the absolute latest.
Leia picked up a game piece and captured several of Clrona's pawns in a single move.
"Wah, I lost!"
Clrona pouted and said unhappily, "One more round!"
"Sure, sure. I'm going to win no matter how many times we play anyway." Leia tossed her fiery red hair back and said with absolute confidence.
