Chapter 10

Watching the Red-haired Guy being dragged deeper into the parking lot, Jinchuan could only watch helplessly.
Villains always get what's coming to them.
A person's character often dictates their ceiling.
"Chuan, what should we do..." Wu Jiamin looked like she was about to cry; she hated it when things went wrong.
Jinchuan comforted her softly, "It's fine. I'll arrange a hospital visit for him. Consider it a lesson."
A few more people were walking over from a distance.
"Who are they?"
Those people were clearly walking straight toward them, and the one right at the front was a woman.
Not just a woman, but a beauty.
Everyone looked a bit puzzled, glancing at one another.
Only Chu Xu froze with a cigarette between his fingers.
Could there really be such a coincidence? How did they run into each other here?
Jinchuan was somewhat curious. What was this about? Did they know each other?
The woman walked up to Chu Xu and stopped, looking at him calmly.
Although she didn't speak, Chu Xu could already sense that she was angry.
It was just inconvenient to blow up out here in public.
Still, Chu Xu wasn't afraid. An upright man doesn't fear a crooked shadow, and he hadn't deliberately refused to have dinner with her.
He stared right back into her eyes.
Jiang Mu almost laughed out of anger. This idiot had turned her down, and now he had the nerve to stare right back at her like that.
He really needed to be put in his place!
Seeing a familiar face, the middle-aged man hurried over.
He said with a smile, "Director Jiang, what brings you here?"
This left everyone dumbfounded, all of them wondering about this woman's identity.
Jiang Mu looked away, assessed the scene, and immediately understood.
"Is President Wu dealing with your brother's affair?"
Wu Gang nodded. "That young man hit my brother, so I'm planning to teach him a lesson. What about Director Jiang..."
"It's nothing."
Jiang Mu wasn't a Bodhisattva; she didn't save all souls. She was completely unfamiliar with these people, so she certainly wouldn't step in.
Unless the person who got beaten was Chu Xu, or unless Chu Xu asked her for help.
Judging by Chu Xu's personality, though, getting him to obediently ask her for a favor seemed pretty difficult.
"President Wu should seriously consider the cooperation issue."
With that, Jiang Mu turned and walked away, leaving behind a graceful back.
Chu Xu breathed a sigh of relief. She was finally gone.
But the sudden voice that followed plunged him right back into despair.
"Not leaving yet?"
Jiang Mu turned her head to look at Chu Xu. Her fair face betrayed no emotion at all, save for pure beauty and maturity.
Everyone was still wondering who this bigwig was calling over, only to watch Chu Xu walk away.
"I'm heading out first, Jinchuan, Jiamin." Chu Xu sighed, saying goodbye to the two of them.
"Okay."
It wasn't until Chu Xu got into the Mulsanne and drove away that the rest of them remained in a daze.
Especially Shen Qing.
Weren't they talking about an ordinary working-class guy? How did he end up in a Bentley? Was that his sister?
Jinchuan glanced at Shen Qing and said, "You really thought his family was ordinary."
He already knew everything that had happened just now, and as for a girl like Shen Qing, he had nothing more to say.
Anyway, he wouldn't be bringing her out to hang out anymore.
Wu Gang frowned deeply, weighing the pros and cons.
He never imagined that young man had such a close relationship with Director Jiang.
They were in the same circle; they must be friends...
If he really broke that kid's arm...
It didn't take long for Wu Gang to weigh his options. He instructed, "Just beat him hard enough to hurt, no fractures. Let him remember the lesson."
Ultimately, he chose to give Jiang Mu face—after all, he couldn't afford to offend her.
Before long, the Red-haired Guy limped over, having taken a beating.
"Thanks, Brother Chuan, or my arm really would've been broken."
Jinchuan maintained a blank expression and corrected him, "Don't thank me. You should thank Chu Xu. If it weren't for him, your arm would've been snapped long ago."
Everyone present was far from stupid; naturally, they understood whose face Wu Gang had spared.
"Huh?"
The Red-haired Guy was extremely surprised. Only after the people around him explained what had happened did a chill run down his spine.
So the other guy was keeping a low profile, while he was the one making a loud noise without any backing.
"Brother Chuan, please thank Brother Xu for me. Whenever you need anything, just say the word. I, Wang Kaiwen, will definitely get it done."
Jinchuan glanced at him and shook his head...
...
Inside the Mulsanne.
Jiang Mu stared in silence at a certain company's planning proposal, completely unwilling to pay attention to Chu Xu.
Chu Xu knew she was angry, but the question was, what was there to be angry about?
He really had been hanging out with friends, and he had made that clear; he hadn't lied to anyone.
If it weren't for the fact that she had taken the initiative to invite him to dinner this afternoon, Chu Xu definitely wouldn't have spoken first.
"Were you going to talk about cooperation just now, Director Jiang?"
Jiang Mu frowned and remained silent.
Chu Xu took one look at her and thought, *Oh ho, getting a bit feisty, huh? Still giving the cold shoulder.* Chu Xu wasn't about to coddle that.
Jiang Mu was so mad her teeth itched. "Don't talk to me while you're smoking. It stinks to high heaven!"
"Alright."
Chu Xu rolled down the window, looked outside, and decided not to make conversation with her anymore.
He really wanted to say, *Your dad was smoking you into next week at home last night and you didn't say a word, but the second I take a couple of puffs you call it stinky.*
Playing favorites, huh?
"Weren't you hanging out with your friend? How'd you end up over there?" Seeing that Chu Xu kept quiet, Jiang Mu took the initiative to speak.
"He wanted to go night-climbing, but it started raining so they didn't go. When they got back, they ran into trouble."
He still hadn't asked if the Red-haired Guy's arm was broken.
"Then how did you manage to provoke Wu Gang's brother?" Jiang Mu continued asking.
Chu Xu said, "His brother peed on the Red-haired Guy's car tire, so they beat him up. Afterward, the other guy called in backup and demanded one of the Red-haired Guy's arms. Who knows if it's broken or not."
Thinking about it, they were ruthless—both sides were ruthless.
Jiang Mu smiled slightly and said, "It won't be broken."
She trusted Wu Gang's judgment.
Chu Xu suddenly froze. He looked at Jiang Mu and said sincerely, "You're so pretty, Sister Jiang Mu. Truly gorgeous inside and out, right into my heart."
These words came purely from the heart. Chu Xu never kept such things buried inside or felt too shy to say them.
He always believed that complimenting people was never wrong.
Though there was a condition: before praising someone, you had to gauge whether they harbored any aversion toward you.
If they did, then don't praise them; it would only make them sick...
When she heard this, Jiang Mu was momentarily taken aback. Weren't they talking about what happened? How did it suddenly turn into a discussion about whether she looked good?
Though Chu Xu had said these words more than once, hearing them still made her happy every time.
Whatever, she wouldn't bicker with this idiot; she wouldn't get mad.
Forget not getting mad—she couldn't even suppress the smile at the corner of her lips.
Chu Xu didn't notice Jiang Mu's change in expression.
"Not bad, the bracelet looks good too. That clerk really didn't lie to me."
Noticing that she was still wearing the bracelet he gave her yesterday, he suddenly grabbed her hand.
Jiang Mu merely glanced at him, having no intention of pulling her hand back. Let him grab it; a few more times and she'd get used to it.
Of course, Chu Xu wasn't sleazy enough to take advantage of her; he let go very quickly.
He swore he was just genuinely admiring the bracelet.
The Mulsanne continued on its way.
Seeing as they were going further and further, almost crossing districts.
Chu Xu reminded her, "My house isn't in this direction."
"Who said I was taking you home?" Jiang Mu glanced at him.
"Then where are we going?"
"Just sit there. Why do you have to ask so many questions?"
...
I won't lower myself to your level just because you're pretty.
Half an hour later, the Mulsanne stopped in front of a Chinese restaurant.
A private kitchen, at that.
"Director Jiang, I'll head back first." Wang Doudou hurriedly stepped out from the front passenger seat.
Another second of listening to that would have given her goosebumps.
Still, considering that Chu Xu was also quite easy on the eyes, she supposed it wasn't too nauseating.
Then again, anyone who could match up to Director Jiang deserved to have looks like Chu Xu's.
Jiang Mu nodded and led the way ahead. "I come here to eat after work. I own it, but it's rarely open to the public."
Chu Xu understood what she meant, except...
"Spending millions on renovations, calculating operational costs every month, and not even open to outsiders—you really are loaded."
Jiang Mu didn't confirm or deny it, smiling as she said, "You can come here to eat in the future too. No charge."
"It's too far. Takes over an hour round trip just for a meal—not worth it." Chu Xu shook his head.
He could try it occasionally, but regularly? Forget it.
