Wisps of cooking smoke rose into the air, carrying the savory aroma of dinner. "You're back?" Gu Tingchuan said without looking up as he heard her footsteps. He was busy stirring the food in the wok with an iron spatula. His military jacket was draped over the back of a nearby chair, leaving him in just a white undershirt that showed off his muscular arms and broad shoulders. To Shen Niantang, the sight was pure, unadulterated temptation. A man who knew his way around a kitchen was a rare treasure indeed. Setting down her small shoulder bag, she slipped behind him and switched on her daily flattery mode. She might not know how to cook, but she certainly knew how to provide emotional support.
