Su Yu and Deng Xian sat in the spacious, comfortable carriage belonging to Deng Qiyue. The coachman, whom Deng Qiyue had specially arranged through Zhao Yi, was named Luo Chu. Having served by Deng Qiyue’s side for over a decade, Luo Chu had spent his time managing the trivial affairs of various shops. When Zhao Yi reassigned him to Xuyang County, Luo Chu had expected to be entrusted with some significant task. To his surprise, however, Deng Qiyue simply told him to stay at home, rest, and enjoy himself. He was also instructed to lend a hand if the neighbors across the street needed any help. Curious, Luo Chu waited, wondering what sort of special mission he might receive. He waited for over ten days, but no one ever asked for his help. Today, on the Laba Festival, he had been happily planning to sleep in. To his dismay, a rapid knocking at his door early in the morning shattered his dreams. When he opened it, he found two boys standing there, pointing at the house across the way and inviting him to their Laba feast.
