Chapter 12

Hearing that his owner was still speaking up for the goddess, Dapang became even angrier. He arched his back and hissed, clearly displaying his fury.
"Don't get worked up, Dapang. Your owner is just blinded by his own perspective," Lu Ruo said, soothing him. "Lie down. This time, I’ll make sure he gets a good look at your belly, and then he’ll know the truth."
Dapang cast a look of disdain at his owner, but still followed Lu Ruo’s instructions and lay on the table, exposing his belly.
The audience was stunned by the sight.
[This blue cat is so obedient. I’m starting to think the streamer is telling the truth.] [Is this scripted? Could the streamer and this guy be in on it together?] [No way. Big Pizza, hurry up and look at the cat’s belly already! The kid is even lying down for you.]
While the comments section urged Big Pizza to examine Dapang’s belly, the song "Plain Face" suddenly began to play. It was Big Pizza’s ringtone.
Big Pizza immediately reached for his phone to answer it.
Dapang, who had been lying perfectly still, suddenly did a sit-up, swiped the phone onto the floor with one claw, and hissed at his owner, his fur standing completely on end.
[Dapang’s fur is all puffed up—is he having a stress reaction?]
Sexy Husky: [Is there a story behind that ringtone? Could it be the legendary 'Goddess-exclusive' ringtone?]
Seeing this comment, Lu Ruo said, "Yes, that is indeed his goddess's exclusive ringtone. She must have seen my livestream and wants to stop Big Pizza from learning the truth."
"So, what will it be? Will you choose to believe the cat who is lying there waiting for you, or your goddess? That is entirely your choice."
"Meow, meow, meow!" Dapang wailed, staring fixedly at Big Pizza.
Facing the piercing gaze of his blue cat and looking at the phone on the floor that was ringing again, Big Pizza fell silent.
It seemed that every time this ringtone played, Dapang would get agitated. Could what Lu Ruo said be true?
No, that was impossible!
"My goddess isn't feeling guilty." Big Pizza checked the time and said, "She’s just calling to make plans for where we should go next week. I’ll prove right now that she never pinched Dapang!"
With the goddess’s image echoing in his mind, Big Pizza confidently parted the fur on Dapang’s belly.
He had expected to prove that Lu Ruo was a liar, but the moment he saw the bare, pink skin of Dapang’s belly, he froze.
Under the high-definition camera, the cat’s skin was covered in tiny red marks—a shocking mix of new and old scars.
Something seemed to collapse within him, and Big Pizza’s hands began to tremble uncontrollably.
"How could there really be red marks..."
[Unbelievable. Talk about a public slap in the face. There are actually red marks.] [The streamer is amazing. Can she really understand cat language?] [Mission: Help the blue cat Dapang show his owner the goddess’s true colors. Completed! Reward: 10 points, Random Animal Language: Birdspeak!]
The mission was complete!
Lu Ruo smiled happily. When she looked at the screen again, Lu Ze had posted another comment: [Hey, will you get a grip? Maybe someone at the pet store pinched him, or maybe someone else did when you took him out somewhere. Why does it have to be me... I mean, why does it have to be her?]
Big Pizza saw this comment too, and with reddened eyes, he retorted loudly, "I never take Dapang out except when I’m with her! Dapang hasn’t been sick in all these years. I’m afraid frequent baths aren't good for him, so I don't take him to the pet store often!"
"I don't have a nanny or anyone else at home; I live alone. If it wasn't her, then who? Did I pinch him myself?"
"I liked her so much. I thought she was different from everyone else I’d ever met, but it turns out she’s just like the people who bullied me!"
"If I hadn't raised Dapang back then, I might have killed myself from all the bullying." Emotionally charged, Big Pizza picked up the phone from the floor and said viciously, "I’m going to ask her exactly why she abused my cat like this!"
[Call her, call her! I want to see who this cat-pincher really is!] [I love this kind of drama.]
The call went through, but no one answered.
Big Pizza, furious, slammed his phone down again. He sent a "Carnival" gift to Lu Ruo on the computer and, with red eyes, said, "I'm sorry. I apologize for how I treated you earlier."
The audience found this apology baffling, but Lu Ruo responded naturally, "Just don't let her bully Dapang in the future."
In truth, as soon as the livestream connected, Lu Ruo had figured out Big Pizza’s identity from the things Dapang was grumbling about.
He was Jiang Yu, the little chubby kid from Lu Yao’s circle.
Jiang Yu was the only son of the Jiang family and was only seventeen, a high school freshman. It was said that he had suffered from depression after being bullied as a child.
The Jiang family and the Lu family had business dealings, and, by all accounts, the Jiangs were wealthier than the Lus. After Lu Yao had gotten close to Jiang Yu, she had mentioned in the office that she had Jiang Yu wrapped around her finger, ensuring the partnership with the Jiang family would never end.
Relying on Jiang Yu to bring benefits to the Lu family, while secretly abusing his cat—the irony was bitter.
Lu Ruo looked at Dapang with a heart full of pity.
Dapang was puffing out his chest proudly, looking at Jiang Yu and saying, "Stupid Jiang Yu, regret bullying me now, don't you?"
After saying this, he looked at Lu Ruo with a serious expression and meowed out a massive secret.
"Since you can actually understand what cats say, there’s one more thing I want to tell you. The last time Jiang Yu took me out, Lu Yao tried to pinch me again, so I ran away. I ran into a dilapidated house and smelled a heavy stench of human blood inside a large barrel!"
"Someone must have died in there!"
[New Mission: "Assist the police in catching the murderer who put a victim inside a barrel." Triggered! Reward: 10 points, one random animal language.]
Another mission triggered! And this one involved a victim!
Lu Ruo’s body tensed up in alarm.
Dapang was a cat and didn't know human addresses; only Jiang Yu would know. She had to get the location and call the police!
"Thank you," Lu Ruo said to Dapang, then looked up at Jiang Yu. But Jiang Yu was already on the phone.
"Mom, Dad, it’s me. Yeah. Did we sign that development project in partnership with the Lu family? We didn't? Good. Don't sign it. She and I are no longer friends."
"Okay, goodbye."
As soon as Jiang Yu hung up, Lu Ruo opened her mouth to ask, but Jiang Yu spoke first: "Thank you for showing me the truth. I’m going to take Dapang for a full check-up now. I’m logging off."
"Wait, don't disconnect! I still have something to tell you!"
But Jiang Yu didn't respond again and exited the livestream.
Jiang Yu was gone, but Lu Ze remained. He posted a vicious comment: [Lu Ruo, though I don’t know what tricks you used to frame her, this isn't over. I won't let you get away with this.]
After leaving that threat, Lu Ze also logged off.
The livestream remained lively, though. Because Lu Ruo had actually been right!
Some viewers were sending small tips, and Sexy Husky tipped Lu Ruo ten "luxury car" gifts. He then posted: [So you can really understand cat language? When will you be able to understand dog language?]
[Hurry, streamer, I want to know what my unfilial beast is thinking. Please accept my request to connect.] [Can the streamer look at birds?]
The number of viewers had grown from 130 to 2,000, and as people continued to share the stream, the count kept climbing.
But Lu Ruo couldn't sit still; she was anxious about the victim.
"I’m sorry, everyone, but I have something very important to attend to and cannot continue the stream for now. If you’re interested, please hit the follow button. I will find time to come back and help you communicate with your cats later."
