More importantly, domestic cats that have never been outside will be afraid of unfamiliar environments. With the hospital being so chaotic, wouldn't the cat get stressed?
Thinking of this, Lu Ruo wanted to speak up and refuse, but the nurse had already entered the ward and started pushing her bed toward the door.
Old Madam Gu was busy instructing the nurse to be gentle during the examinations, rambling on about arranging the tests that didn't require an empty stomach first.
Lu Ruo couldn't find an opportunity to interject.
She could only follow the nurse's guidance, enduring blood draws, X-rays, and various other tests, before finally being given anesthesia for a gastroscopy.
When she returned to the ward, Lu Ruo discovered another cat in the room.
This cat was three times the size of Huahua, with a pure tabby coat. A scar ran from its left eye down to its chin, and a section of its tail was missing; at a glance, it looked like a "big brother" cat that was always getting into fights.
The big brother cat had been sitting gracefully in front of Huahua's cage, but upon noticing the many people entering the room, its black pupils constricted, and its round eyes followed every movement.
A cat afraid of strangers wouldn't sit so boldly in its original spot; it would have hidden in a dark corner.
Knowing that Grandma Gu's cat was bold, Lu Ruo felt a little relieved.
However, as soon as the nurses left, the big brother cat leaped onto the bed and looked down at her, speaking up, "Human, I hear you can understand cat language?"
Despite looking like such a tough guy, the Fat Tabby’s voice was actually a fresh, youthful-sounding tone.
Since Old Madam Gu was there, Lu Ruo couldn't talk back to the cat, so she remained silent.
"It's alright. I know you don't want to communicate with cats in front of others. I just have something I want to tell you."
As the big brother cat spoke, it sprawled across Lu Ruo's chest and sniffed her neck, then squinted its eyes, looking incredibly happy as it took a deep breath. "As expected of someone who understands cats, you have a scent that I like."
After saying this, it rubbed its head against her neck.
Lu Ruo was stunned. Based on the cat's tone, she had thought it was going to tell her some great secret, but it turned out it was just saying she smelled good?
Seeing her cat trying so hard to snuggle up to her, Old Madam Gu’s hanging heart finally settled.
She knew it—with a kind girl like Lu Ruo, her Duoduo was bound to like her!
"See, Duoduo likes you so much. From today on, you are Grandma's granddaughter. Once you feel better, the two of us will hold a ceremony to make it official!"
"N-no, no ceremony needed..." With the anesthesia still wearing off, Lu Ruo’s speech was a bit slurred.
She wanted to say more, but suddenly, there was a knock at the door.
It was Gu Qi, who had turned around and come back.
Perhaps because he had rushed over, there were fine beads of sweat on Gu Qi's smooth forehead, and his chest was heaving.
"Comrade Lu Ruo, we caught the theft suspect at the train station. Once he realized we had the evidence, he confessed on the spot."
"If it weren't for you, we would have missed the situation in that alley. The police station will be giving you an award for your good deed."
So, Gu Qi had come to report the outcome of the case.
"There's no need to award me; it was Huahua's credit," Lu Ruo said. She happily opened the shop interface, intending to use the newly acquired points to exchange for a Lifespan-Extending Pill.
However, her point total in the shop was still zero.
What was going on?
The case had clearly been solved, so why hadn't she received the points?
Was the system lagging, failing to issue the reward?
[The mission is not yet complete. The host still needs to work harder.] The Fluffy System suddenly spoke up to remind her.
[What part hasn't been completed? Is it because they don't believe it was Huahua's credit?] Lu Ruo asked nervously.
System: [The Fluffy System only provides suggestions for the host. As for how to complete the mission, please think for yourself.]
