A pitch-black vine slithered out from the skull's eye socket, twitching and writhing like raw, bloody granulation tissue. It seemed as if it intended to morph into a snail or a hermit crab, ready to crawl away and escape. The strange sight prompted An Jing to pin the skull-beast to the ground with his sword, causing its limbs to flail like a frantic octopus. "That’s quite curious," he remarked. "And sturdy, too—my Evil Qi Sword couldn't even pierce it."
