Chapter 11

1,355 words7 minutes read

The Lynx leaped high and, in Xu Yao's surprised gaze, pounced straight at the giant fish.
Hmph.
This claw attack held nothing back.
Xu Yao gasped, looking at the three deep claw marks on the ground ahead.
If the giant fish hadn't dodged so quickly, that one attack would have been more than enough for it.
The two who were about to retreat stopped in their tracks.
"They have a feud," Gong Yixing observed calmly after watching for a while. "And they've fought more than once."
The giant fish wasn't fast, but it always managed to dodge the Lynx's attacks.
It was clear they were very familiar with each other's moves.
"Mm," Xu Yao nodded in agreement. "The Lynx can't win."
As soon as she finished speaking, the Lynx, which had just swiped at the giant fish, twitched its ears, turned its head, and huffed towards Xu Yao.
Hmph, little kitty, quite fierce?
Did it understand what I said?
Xu Yao raised an eyebrow, watching the two giant beasts ahead with interest.
The giant fish was massive. Even though it had sustained some injuries earlier, it was still completely suppressing the Lynx.
One water arrow even shaved off a clump of fur from the Lynx's hind leg.
The Lynx wasn't to be trifled with either; its claws had also torn off several scales from the giant fish.
"The alligator gar's weakness is its abdomen," Gong Yixing averted his gaze, glanced at the javelin in Xu Yao's hand, and affirmed. "The cat has been trying to attack its abdomen."
Why did her weapon turn into a javelin again? It was an iron hammer last time.
"Mm," Xu Yao nodded and smiled at Gong Yixing. "And its claws are too short, it can't reach it at all."
Ha, little kitty, distracted in a fight.
Seeing the Lynx pause and almost get hit by a water arrow, Xu Yao smiled silently.
Gong Yixing shook his head speechlessly.
She really dared to tease anything.
"Oh, I wonder how we can get the giant fish to flip over?" Xu Yao winked at Gong Yixing, a hint of slyness in her eyes.
Quick, cooperate with me. Let's trick that little kitty together!
Gong Yixing understood her perfectly, knowing Xu Yao had come up with an idea, and cooperated. "You must have a way, right?"
This person.
She's like a little cat herself, yet she wants to bully a little cat.
"I do have a way," Xu Yao said slowly, rummaging in her backpack and pulling out a prop that looked like a small mirror.
"It also depends on whether the kitty is willing to cooperate."
The Lynx's ears twitched, and it instantly separated from the giant fish.
Its front claws had been dulled by the fish scales, and now its attacks were causing less and less damage to the giant fish.
The Lynx sized up Xu Yao, its whiskers twitching, and sniffed the air.
"Sigh, if the little kitty isn't willing, then we'll withdraw," Xu Yao said, pulling Gong Yixing as if they were about to turn and leave.
Gong Yixing also nodded in agreement, though a hint of helplessness appeared on his face.
Fine, think of it as indulging her.
"Meow," the Lynx let out a short meow.
Xu Yao happily turned back. "So you agree, then. I don't ask for much, just the scales on its back."
The little kitty is playing hard to get.
Seen the power of Sun Tzu's Art of War yet?
The Lynx leaped to dodge the giant fish's attack and meowed again briefly, indicating agreement.
Xu Yao didn't waste any more time, only stopping Gong Yixing, who was about to step forward to help.
She ignored Gong Yixing's somewhat confused look.
Seizing the moment, she raised the prop in her hand towards the giant fish and used her mental power to control the mirror, shining it at the giant fish.
Instantly, a giant mirror, 10x10 meters, formed around the giant fish.
With a "plop" sound.
The giant fish was thrown onto its back and could only writhe on the ice, trying to escape its predicament.
This prop is called Smooth as Mirror, as the name suggests.
It creates an absolutely smooth mirror surface, causing anyone on it to fall onto their back and stay there for 10 minutes.
As the prop activated, the Lynx happened to leap high. Seeing the situation below, it fiercely swiped at the alligator gar's abdomen.
Instantly, the alligator gar's abdomen was torn open.
With a "boom," Xu Yao covered her eyes decisively.
Upon landing, the Lynx was also affected by the prop, falling onto its back and out of the mirror's area.
Dust flew, but it couldn't hide the Lynx's expression of terror.
Gong Yixing also looked astonished, his throat bobbing.
What kind of prop is this? Is it indiscriminate?
It was her kindness not to have me go up.
The giant fish on the mirror was still unable to flip over. It angrily shot a water arrow at Xu Yao.
"Careful," Gong Yixing instantly drew his short blades and leaped forward, cleaving the incoming water arrow in two.
The water arrow was split in the middle, but the liquid that touched Gong Yixing's hand instantly corroded his skin.
"Hiss."
Gong Yixing landed, looking at his hand, his brow furrowed.
This water arrow carried corrosive elements.
What kind of ability does this fish have? Is this still a normal mutation?
"Whoosh," a sound of piercing air arrived. Before Gong Yixing could see clearly.
A loud crash was heard from the direction of the giant fish.
The half-human-tall javelin that Xu Yao had held moments ago had transformed into a colossal javelin, about 3 meters long, firmly pinning the alligator gar's head to the ground.
A powerful ability spread out, and the giant fish instantly lost its breath.
Gong Yixing turned to look at Xu Yao, gripping his short blades, his pupils trembling.
Xu Yao stood tall and graceful, her face solemn, a cold pressure radiating from her.
What kind of family could cultivate such an aura?
"Are you okay?" Xu Yao, confirming the alligator gar was dead, retracted her aura and walked over to carefully examine Gong Yixing's hand, handing him a healing spray.
Gong Yixing took the spray. "I'm fine, just a minor injury."
Xu Yao nodded. The traces of the water arrow on the ground were still making "hissing" corrosive sounds.
The corrosiveness was strong, but looking at Gong Yixing's injury.
It seemed his own defense was already quite high.
Xu Yao withdrew her gaze and walked towards the dead giant fish ahead.
The Lynx, also intimidated by Xu Yao's aura, lowered its ears and stepped back.
With a wave of Xu Yao's hand, the colossal javelin shrunk instantly and returned to her hand.
The equipment is called Titan Javelin. It was a low-level weapon of Xu Yao's original set. After use, it reverts to its original size, with no other attributes besides being heavy.
"Kitty, come here," Xu Yao beckoned to the Lynx. "Go flip that fish over."
The Lynx was sensible and leaped up to push the giant fish down, making it easier for Xu Yao to retrieve the scales from its back.
Gong Yixing also caught up. "This fish is strange. You get the scales first. I'll check other areas."
This fish's abilities are like the Rat King's, numerous and chaotic.
"Mm," Xu Yao nodded, pulled out a dagger, pried off a scale, and pointed it out to Gong Yixing. "Look, the blood color is also unusual."
Gong Yixing nodded and left. Xu Yao weighed the scale in her hand.
How to put it, although the whole fish seemed strange.
But these scales are truly good stuff.
Thin as cicada wings, hard as rock.
Xu Yao quickly pried off a complete scale and, using her backpack as cover, quickly stored it in the storage room of her Workspace.
Huh?
Why does my hand feel weird after touching these scales for so long?
As a flash of realization dawned on Xu Yao, before she could grasp it, Gong Yixing, with a stern expression, walked back.
