Chapter 14

1,278 words6 minutes read

The girl rode the Pachyrhinosaurus, observing her surroundings as she ran, looking for the best breakthrough point. The cannon fodder savages along the way were startled to see a Pachyrhinosaurus suddenly charge out, and they hurriedly sought cover, as being hit by it meant certain death.
The young girl drew her bow and shot dead several savages who stood blocking the way. It was her first time using such a weapon, and she was surprised by its power and how easy it was to handle. However, her arms were already sore and tired, so she put away the bow and arrows and held on tightly to the Pachyrhinosaurus, letting it run freely. By the time they tried to surround her, it was too late, as the girl had already broken out of the encirclement.
The little leader hadn't expected this small tribe to tame herbivores. He knew it was impossible to catch up on foot. Although one person had escaped the encirclement, he wasn't flustered. Looking at the graceful figure on the back of the Pachyrhinosaurus, his eyes revealed a fierce, possessive greed. He had to have this woman!
The little leader gestured slightly to the rider behind him who was holding a Raptor. The rider understood immediately and immediately got on the Raptor's back. Due to the Raptor's large size and broad back, they had specifically tied a simple cushion onto its back to better control its direction and speed. While this wasn't a saddle in the true sense, it was merely to make the rider more comfortable.
Two riders urged their Raptors forward at high speed. The two Raptors shot forward like arrows loosed from a bow, their inner hunger and thirst no longer containable. Their speed was incredible, their eyes fixed on the retreating back of the Pachyrhinosaurus, glittering with brutal light, as if they wished to tear the creature before them to shreds and devour it immediately. Years of abuse had twisted these Raptors' minds, leaving no room for compassion; only a fanatical pursuit of blood and death, only through bloody slaughter could they release their inner fury.
After finishing setting up the farming facilities at home, Wáng Jùnjié headed to the bay to tame a Pterodactyl. Guiding the Titanomyrma to land slowly on the beach, after flying for nearly two hours, he finally reached the bay. Looking at the place where they had camped, everything had changed. He remembered the Megalodon in the water that day, and the Parasaurolophus and Morellatops at home, as well as the beautiful scenery before sleeping at night.
Watching the Pterodactyls strolling on the beach, and the carefree herbivores with no life threat, this was indeed a good place to retire. He had gained experience in taming neutral flying creatures. In the game, all it took was a flail, but it was impossible in reality. With a Pterodactyl's size and strength, capable of carrying a person, a small flail wouldn't be enough to restrain it. He released a Dimetrodon, then unleashed the aerial combat unit, Titanomyrma, to clear out the Ichthyornis. Once there were no Ichthyornis around, he mounted the Dimetrodon and randomly searched for a lucky individual. Spotting a Pterodactyl ahead with a white skull pattern, he decided on it! He quickly charged forward on the Dimetrodon and spat a stream of venom from a distance.
Pah! Cough!
The venom arced precisely, hitting the Pterodactyl just as it was about to take off. The Pterodactyl felt its wings grow heavy as if they weighed a thousand pounds, flapping slowly. No matter how hard it tried, it couldn't fly. Wáng Jùnjié seized the opportunity and threw a weighted flail, ensnaring its long, slender neck. A second flail followed closely, also binding its neck. Unable to fly and hit by two weighted flails, the Pterodactyl finally fell to the ground. Then came the finishing move. While the Dimetrodon spat venom, Wáng Jùnjié shot Anesthetic Arrows. Soon, the Pterodactyl was knocked out on the ground. After scanning it with his implant, he fed it high-quality raw meat and then looked for the next target.
The second one was tamed in the same way, fed meat after being knocked out, and everything was done. He then strolled along the beach, walking on the soft sand, feeling the cool sea breeze, and enjoying a moment of laziness.
After waiting for nearly 45 minutes, the first Pterodactyl finally woke up. He hadn't expected that even with high-quality raw meat, it would take this long; ordinary raw meat would take even longer. As soon as it woke up, it got up, crawled on the ground, and moved towards Wáng Jùnjié. Wáng Jùnjié had already removed the flails from its neck and collected the Anesthetic Arrows from its body.
Looking at the Pterodactyl within arm's reach, Wáng Jùnjié truly felt the height difference between himself and this giant beast. When the Pterodactyl stood upright and crawled on the ground, it was even much taller than a Parasaurolophus. The Pterodactyl is world-renowned for its distinctive head ornament, the crest. It might be used to attract mates, display its charm, or perhaps act as a rudder during flight, helping them maintain balance and stability in the air, or maybe both.
The Ark Pterodactyl's height already surpassed human imagination, reaching an astonishing 4 meters when standing upright, with a body length of about 4.4 meters and a wingspan of 16.5 meters. The Pterodactyl's speed is 50 kilometers per hour, comparable to a motorcycle's normal cruising speed, making it the fastest flying creature on the Ark's Isolated Island.
The Pterodactyl had an enormous head, with a long and sharp beak. Perhaps to balance its head, a large, backward-projecting bony crest grew on top of its head. Its throat and neck also had a pouch of skin, and there were no teeth in its mouth. This peculiar structure resembles a modern pelican. The Pterodactyl also swallows fish and other food by opening its large mouth. Because of its speed, it could easily escape pursuit, making it one of the most common flying creatures on the Isolated Island. It primarily fishes at sea or scavenges for carcasses rather than hunting through combat. When resting, it folds its wings and limbs, using its limbs to crawl briefly on the ground.

However, in addition to these giant Pterodactyls, Wáng Jùnjié also saw some smaller ones, even smaller than the Titanomyrma. At first, Wáng Jùnjié thought they were young, but young ones couldn't fly yet. That small Pterodactyl flew incredibly fast. It wasn't until Wáng Jùnjié saw mini Carbonemys again that he observed and confirmed they weren't young, finally accepting the existence of dwarf creatures.
Another Pterodactyl woke up a few minutes later. He fitted the saddle made before leaving onto the Pterodactyl with the skull pattern, then took out the Soul Gun and put away the second Pterodactyl and the Titanomyrma. He could finally experience soaring as the fastest flying creature on the Isolated Island.
Flying freely in the air, he experienced the joy of the Pterodactyl, including its special skill, the 'Spinning Dash'. It was effective, but it made him a bit dizzy and nauseous.
Although the Pterodactyl is fast, its drawbacks are also very obvious. It cannot transport many items, has low stamina, and needs to rest every twenty minutes of flight. Also, weapons cannot be used while riding, at most only a telescope can be held with one hand. If a crossbow could be made in the future, it might overcome this drawback. Shooting a crossbow with one hand in the air, who could compete with that?
After playing enough in the air, he had the Pterodactyl land
