Originally, the WTT Middle East Hub and Contender events in Doha, Qatar, originally scheduled for March, were called off. After internal discussions and consulting the players, the team decided to withdraw from the tournaments entirely. The main concern was the lengthy quarantine period upon returning home, which would make normal training impossible. With the Tokyo Olympics just around the corner, the Games remained the top priority. After more than a month of intensive training camp, the foreign players gradually departed, most of them heading to Doha for the competitions. Diaz was reluctant to leave. Even though the past month had been grueling and had left her feet covered in blisters, she had learned a great deal of advanced technique and made a wonderful group of friends.
