Two rows of tall ginkgo trees stood in front of the Training Hall of the Beijing General Administration of Sport. When deep autumn arrived, they would shed golden, fan-shaped leaves all over the sky, creating a romantic and picturesque scene. However, once winter came, the ginkgo leaves were all swept away, leaving the branches bare like rows of cold, upside-down brooms.
