Seeing how heartbroken Ali was, Ophelia persuaded her to leave. Not long after, the tribal doctor arrived to give Ophelia instructions on how to care for Kline. Ophelia nodded; although she had never performed surgery in her modern life, she had a general understanding of how to care for a post-operative patient.
By evening, Kline still had not woken up, so Ophelia took advantage of a quiet moment to sneak into her Space and check on the little dragon cubs. Upon entering, she did not see the cubs in the rice paddies. She headed toward the storage shed, but as soon as she entered the doorway, she gasped in astonishment. The once-tidy shelves had been ransacked. The fruit was missing, and the floor was littered with pits. Since she was the only one in the Space besides the three little dragon cubs, it wasn't hard to guess who had done it.
"Cubs? Babies?" Ophelia began searching everywhere, and it took a while before she found them in the far corner of the shed. The dragon cubs were curled up, hugging their own tails, fast asleep. Ophelia walked over gently and called out, "Cubs, babies, wake up." But no matter how she called, there was no response.
