Chapter 60

Amy hung her head, dejected. Tears the size of beans rolled down her cheeks, and she looked utterly aggrieved. She had no other motives; she simply felt physically miserable. In the past, whenever she was ill, her mother would stay by her side. This time, she had wanted her mother to hold her, only to be told that such behavior would make her mother loathe her. Seeing the little female looking so heartbroken, Laxus felt a pang of distress. But seeing the resolute expression on Taylor’s face, he knew there was no way he would be able to see Ophelia today, no matter what. Laxus was troubled—what was he to do? After all, she was his sister’s own daughter; he couldn't just ignore her. "Damn that Loki. He has no sense of responsibility at all; he’s not fit to be a father." Laxus frowned, his heart aching for Amy. But for now, he could only vent with words; he couldn't actually do anything about the situation. Regardless of everything else, the little Amy in his arms was his own niece. Even if Ophelia didn't care, as her uncle, he couldn't bear to abandon her.
