Zevlor had mixed feelings upon learning from Ethemon about Kahga's death, yet he was relieved that his people would receive an extra measure of protection, and he sent his subordinates to share the good news with the refugees. Still, the sword of Damocles hung heavy overhead, and the goblins occupying the abandoned temple of Selûne remained a looming threat. He marked up his tactical map, pondering how to break through the goblin encirclement. Ethemon did not linger, turning and stepping out of Zevlor's quarters. He did not return empty-handed, however: Zevlor had given him a pair of silver gauntlets, their knuckles lined with sharp, serrated grooves designed to catch enemies off guard in combat—reportedly the squad leader's go-to gear from his military days.
