The chaotic battle lasted for nearly half an hour. It might not sound like a long time, but wave after wave of goblins pressed forward frantically, and the Tieflings and Druids could only hold them off with the most basic weapons and magic. When all their arrows were spent and the last drop of fire oil was gone, they began hurling massive basins of rocks down the ledge, trying to crush the goblins attempting to climb up. And when the rocks ran out as well, they could only form a human wall, using wooden clubs and staffs to batter the goblins back down one by one.
Still, a few slipped through. An ugly goblin brandished a chopper, slashing wildly at the surrounding Tieflings and inflicting countless wounds in an instant. The very next second, however, a dark-green flash of light blasted him backward. He plummeted straight off the high platform and crashed to his death.
Wyll flicked his blade to send another goblin trying to sneak up during the chaos flying, then hastily waved for an injured Tiefling to fall back for treatment. He kept scanning the area below for Ethemon. They had agreed to work together, but no sooner had the battle begun than Wyll was distracted into helping dispatch a few wargs. By the time he regained his focus, Ethemon was gone. He only caught sight of the man who usually followed behind Ethemon retreating with a displeased look to hide behind a boulder, emerging only occasionally to fire off a cold arrow or two.
