"Hello?" A gnome who looked like the leader of the group slowly walked out from the crowd, cautiously greeting Ethemon and the others. "Don't get me wrong, I'm very grateful, but... why are you helping us? You're one of them, aren't you?" "Are you always so suspicious of the people who help you?" Astarion laughed and said—though they certainly had helped for other reasons. "The cult thinks I belong to them, but I don't think so." Ethemon continued rummaging through the pile of corpses to see if he could find anything useful or any gold coins. Hearing the gnome's words, he answered almost instinctively; he didn't belong to anyone. The thoughts of the Father and murder that were entwined within his mind surfaced again, causing him to frown involuntarily. He would not belong to the Father either; he should be his own person.
