Chapter 2

Qingcheng International Hospital Center is the highest-level private hospital in Qingcheng and even H Province. Foreign doctors are as numerous as the hairs on an ox, and top experts at the cutting edge of various medical fields frequently come here for consultations.
After the off-road vehicle stopped downstairs, Chen Nuo followed Jiang Yurou out of the car.
Chen Nuo looked up and remarked, "The design of this building... is quite ordinary."
Upon hearing Chen Nuo's words, Huo Xiaoyu burst into laughter, bending over backward. "You country bumpkin, do you know who the primary architect of this building is? The world's second-best architect, Geromark! This building can withstand a magnitude 9 earthquake, and you call the design ordinary?"
Geromark—a stubborn blockhead who only knew how to design without any flexibility. Four years ago abroad, Chen Nuo had scolded him for half a year before he finally saw the light. Yet now, the guy had designed some more pieces of junk, and people were actually buying them back and treating them like precious treasures.
He truly couldn't fathom the thought process of these people.
Jiang Yurou said, "Xiaoyu, there's no need to say so much to him; he wouldn't understand anyway. Let's go up first; Uncle Zhao's surgery should be starting soon."
Humming a tune, Chen Nuo followed behind them. Huo Xiaoyu turned back to issue a warning: "Little beggar, we brought you out to broaden your horizons, so you should know how to show some gratitude. Once we get upstairs, you'd better stay put and behave yourself. If you say a single extra word, even we won't be able to protect you."
The three of them went straight to the VIP rooms on the thirtieth floor.
However, as soon as they reached the thirtieth floor, Chen Nuo caught a whiff of a malevolent aura.
This malevolent aura was very faint; an ordinary Daoist priest coming here might not even have been able to sense it, but Chen Nuo—as the current sect leader of Longhu Mountain and the sole Purple-Robed Celestial Master—could not possibly let such a trace of malevolent aura escape his discerning eyes.
He simply hadn't expected to run into such an interesting matter right after descending the mountain.
Jiang Yurou and Huo Xiaoyu walked into the hospital ward, and Chen Nuo squeezed in after them.
With just a single glance, Chen Nuo understood where the source of this malevolent aura was coming from.
Lying on the bed at that moment was an elderly man with graying hair. Standing next to the old man was a refined-looking man wearing gold-rimmed glasses and exuding a scholarly aura.
Jiang Yurou parted her red lips and asked, "Brother Zhao Feng, how is Uncle Wuji doing right now?"
Zhao Feng shook his head. "His condition does not look optimistic, but I have already invited the famous doctoral cardiologist Mark Jackson to treat my father. He should be arriving shortly."
Chen Nuo spoke up, "If your father's illness is treated with medication, it will kill him. It's not a heart problem at all; evil spirits are eroding his heart. If any foreign substance enters his body, your father's breathing will stop immediately, and not even immortals will be able to save him then."
Everyone in the room turned to look at Chen Nuo in unison. Only then did Zhao Feng notice that this unkempt man had actually followed his beloved younger sister Yurou inside. Not only that, but this person was actually cursing his father.
"Punk, who are you? Why are you spouting nonsense here? Do you know what kind of place this is? Do you believe that I can have someone throw you off this building right now?"
Zhao Feng stared fiercely at Chen Nuo, his gaze looking as if he wanted to devour Chen Nuo on the spot.
Huo Xiaoyu chimed in with a cold sneer, "Evil spirits? Have you watched too many horror movies? 'Evil spirits'—are you going to claim next that you're some kind of ghost-busting expert or an immortal reincarnated? Originally, I thought you were just poor with low aspirations, but it turns out you also have mental problems."
Things outside their cognitive scope were things this group could neither access nor bring themselves to believe. Chen Nuo was long since used to this.
Jiang Yurou spoke out, "Chen Nuo, that's enough! Don't think you understand everything. Medical matters are simply not something someone with your education level can comprehend! Stop following us around and making trouble!"
"Someone actually dares to question my medical skills?"
At the doorway, Mark Jackson walked in wearing a white lab coat and sporting a patch of bleached blonde hair.
He looked Chen Nuo up and down and said coldly, "Young Master Zhao, if you feel my medical skills are not up to par, you are free to leave my ward. As for your father's illness, you can just let this kid cure him!"
Zhao Feng's expression shifted, and he hurriedly put on a fawning smile, bowing and scraping as he said, "Doctor Mark, I have never doubted your medical skills. I spent over a year running around just to find you, how could I possibly doubt your medical skills?"
Mark Jackson said disdainfully, "Remember, don't let just anyone into the hospital in the future. I'm allergic to idiots."
Seeing this, Chen Nuo had no desire to continue discussing things with a bunch of unenlightened pigs.
Rather than watching them treat the illness, it was better to enjoy the scenery for a while.
Mark Jackson stated, "I am now going to administer the final dose of medication to your father. After this injection, your father should return to normal and will be able to walk out of bed in just a few days."
Zhao Feng said with a trembling voice, "Thank you so much."
Mark Jackson rubbed his index finger and thumb together. "Don't thank me yet. You should know what I want. This medication doesn't come cheap—three million won't cut it..."
Zhao Feng immediately pulled out a checkbook and handed it over. "Rest assured, I prepared it for you long ago! As long as my father can recover, money is no object; our Zhao family has plenty of money!"
As a Master of Finance from St. Maria University and a top-three finisher in an international financial investment competition, three million was even less than his living expenses for a single year.
Mark Jackson took the check, his expression instantly turning gloomy. "Young Master Zhao, who told you I wanted your domestic currency? I want the currency of my own country!"
"Twenty million?! Doctor Mark, I don't have that much cash to give you right now."
Cold sweat poured down Zhao Feng's face at that moment. He could scrape together three million, but three million in foreign currency was truly more than he could produce on the spot. All his money was controlled by his father, and since his father Zhao Wuji was currently unconscious, he couldn't access those funds even if he wanted to.
Mark Jackson sneered, "Very well, then that means you don't want to save your father anymore, right?"
Mark Jackson made a motion to leave, and Zhao Feng hurriedly blocked his path. "Treat him first, Doctor Mark. Once my father wakes up, I will pay you every last cent."
"Hmph, fine then. In that case, please all of you get out. Do not disturb me until I come out, otherwise if anything goes wrong, I take no responsibility," Mark Jackson said.
After everyone went outside, only Zhao Feng and Mark Jackson were left in the room.
Jiang Yurou pulled Chen Nuo aside and said, "Can you please stop spouting nonsense? I'm begging you."
Chen Nuo shrugged. "Why do you think I'm spouting nonsense? Why couldn't what I said be true?"
Hearing Chen Nuo's remarks, Huo Xiaoyu said dismissively, "Well, since you're so amazing, can you calculate how much longer Uncle Zhao has to live?"
Chen Nuo held up three fingers. Huo Xiaoyu smiled. "Three years? What if Uncle Zhao is fine after three years?"
"Three..."
"Two..."
"One..."
As Chen Nuo's fingers went down one by one, a heart-wrenching cry echoed from inside the ward.
"Dad! What's wrong with you?!"
