Ye Wushuang nodded heavily. "Of course. When this young master steps in, no disease can hide from me."
"Show-off." Tang Moxixi rolled her eyes at Ye Wushuang, then asked, "You said you can cure her—is that true?"
"Of course it's true. I was even able to save your grandfather, that dead old codger, so a minor case of early-stage cancer is nothing."
Ye Wushuang looked utterly arrogant, radiating the vibe that he was the number one hotshot in the world.
Slap!
Tang Moxixi raised her hand and gave Ye Wushuang an exasperated smack.
"What do you mean, 'that dead old codger'? Watch your mouth!"
"Hehe." Ye Wushuang rubbed the spot where he had been hit and gave a silly smile.
Saying something like that right in front of the man's granddaughter really wasn't very appropriate.
"Anyway, as long as it's not a body-shattering injury, I can generally handle it."
"What's a body-shattering injury?" Tang Moxixi asked, full of curiosity.
"It's when the physical form is severely damaged. Traditional Chinese medicine can heal illnesses, but it can also prevent them."
Ye Wushuang sighed. "Still, when we run into severe cases where the body has been completely destroyed, there's nothing we can do."
After all, traditional medicine isn't some magical fairy art; it naturally has its limits.
For an ordinary person who doesn't cultivate, once the physical body is destroyed—unless an immortal descends from the heavens, not even Grandmaster Jiang Ruxue herself could save them.
Nodding in a half-understanding way, Tang Moxixi suddenly asked, "By the way, you don't have a phone yet, do you?"
"What's a 'chicken phone'? Is it delicious?" Ye Wushuang scratched his head blankly.
"Eat my foot." Tang Moxixi rolled her eyes, speechless, and pulled her own Apple smartphone out of her pocket.
"Look, this is a phone. You just came down the mountain yesterday, so you probably don't have one of these."
Ye Wushuang asked curiously, "This is a 'chicken phone'? Didn't you call it a telephone earlier?"
"When did I ever say that?" Tang Moxixi looked bewildered.
"Earlier, when we caught that green-haired punk, didn't you say you were going to make a phone call to the Police Station?"
"Then I saw you fish this thing out of your pocket, so I thought that's what it was called."
Ye Wushuang blinked, his face full of innocence.
Tang Moxixi was speechless. So it turned out she was just bad with her terminology.
Fine. You had to be patient with a little brother who had just come down from the mountain.
Suppressing her exasperation, Tang Moxixi explained, "This is a smartphone. Making a phone call is just one of its functions."
"Whoa, this little iron square is so magical?" Ye Wushuang looked surprised.
"Of course. This is a high-tech product."
Tang Moxixi licked her lips and asked temptingly, "Do you want one?"
"Yes, I want one in my dreams. Give it here quick!" Ye Wushuang's face was full of yearning.
"Alright, then call me older sister and I'll think about it," Tang Moxixi teased with a mischievous smile.
"No way, absolutely not! Don't even think about taking advantage of me!"
Ye Wushuang stood on strict principle, making his stance clear: he would never sell out his bottom line for a mere phone.
"This is the newest model, you know. You can even watch a bunch of pretty girls dancing on here."
Tang Moxixi chuckled and opened the short-video app's trending dance section.
Instantly, a succession of posing and posturing women popped up on the screen.
"Just this?" Ye Wushuang curled his lip in disdain.
From his perspective, these women weren't even as pretty as Tang Moxixi.
A bunch of commoners acting up and making a fuss—it instantly made Ye Wushuang lose interest.
Seeing that Ye Wushuang wasn't moved by beauties at all, Tang Moxixi simply opened the mobile game Glory of Heroes instead.
However, it was still playing the lute to a cow; Ye Wushuang didn't understand video games at all.
"So this so-called high-tech product is just this? Boring."
Ye Wushuang shook his head, looking utterly let down.
Tang Moxixi grew furious. Her original intention had been to hook Ye Wushuang's curiosity so he would obediently call her older sister.
She never expected that Ye Wushuang wouldn't fall for it at all.
"Forget it, I'll take you to buy one and then you'll understand."
Tang Moxixi felt thoroughly deflated. Facing an idiot who understood nothing, she felt a sense of utter helplessness.
The two walked into an Apple store, and Tang Moxixi asked for the latest 15 Pro Max for Ye Wushuang to try out.
Having come down the mountain only yesterday, how could Ye Wushuang possibly know how to use it? He fumbled with it for a long time and couldn't even find the power button.
"What kind of piece of junk is this? It's so hard to use." Ye Wushuang looked disgusted.
Hearing his words, the clerks all thought the exact same thing: It's not that this piece of junk is hard to use; it's that you're an idiot.
Of course, they would never say those words out loud—they only thought them in their hearts.
Seeing that Ye Wushuang simply couldn't figure out the power button, Tang Moxixi rubbed her temples and stepped forward to teach him.
However, Ye Wushuang flatly refused her. "Don't you say a word! I can definitely do this!"
The corner of Tang Moxixi's twitching mouth curled slightly. Oh boy, what a fiercely competitive boy he was.
Finally, half an hour later, Ye Wushuang found the power button.
"Ha, see that? Aren't I smart? I figured it out without a teacher. A piffling button like this tried to stump me?"
Ye Wushuang looked extremely pleased with himself.
Tang Moxixi covered her face, suddenly feeling the urge to turn around and walk away.
She quickly paid the bill and dragged Ye Wushuang outside.
She simply couldn't stand the strange looks the clerks were giving them anymore.
"Hey, why are you dragging me? I haven't figured it out yet."
"Figure out your head! It took you half an hour just to figure out how to turn it on and off, and you still have the nerve to be smug."
Rolling her eyes at Ye Wushuang, Tang Moxixi was completely speechless.
Ye Wushuang protested, "I just came down the mountain, okay? I've never been exposed to high-tech products before."
"Give me some time, and I'll be way better at playing with a phone than you."
"You even know how to use the word 'better'?" Tang Moxixi asked in surprise.
Ye Wushuang scratched the back of his head sheepishly. "I heard those clerks saying it just now. They must have been praising me."
"Is there any chance they were laughing at you for being a fool?"
Tang Moxixi didn't know whether to laugh or cry as she brutally revealed the truth.
Ye Wushuang's face instantly fell.
Thinking back to those people's expressions, it did indeed match what Tang Moxixi said.
After all, if they wanted to praise him, they could have done it openly; there was no need to whisper.
"When we get back, I'll slowly teach you how to use a phone," Tang Moxixi said.
Ye Wushuang nodded heavily. "Okay!"
The two returned to the parking lot by the Qinhuai River and prepared to drive home.
Suddenly, Ye Wushuang frowned and looked toward a deserted direction.
"You've been following us for so long—aren't you going to come out?"
"Someone's there?" Tang Moxixi looked surprised.
Following Ye Wushuang's gaze, she couldn't see a single person.
"If you don't come out, don't blame me for being unpolite!" Ye Wushuang's expression turned icy.
He once heard his third master, Zhuque, say: those who hide in the dark have no friends—only enemies.
He had kept those words deeply etched in his mind ever since, and they remained as fresh as ever.
"Such sharp vigilance. This younger brother admires you."
From the darkness, a familiar figure vaulted over the courtyard wall.
It was none other than Cao Xuan, the second young master of the Cao family.
