"Die!" Ye Wushuang shouted angrily.
The next instant, he bolted forward.
The remaining six men in black flew backward almost simultaneously, then crashed heavily onto the ground, their fates unknown.
Seeing this, Tang Moxixi's mouth formed a perfect "O," looking as though she had just encountered a visitor from another world.
Could it be that this sloppy beggar wasn't just bragging, and was actually a Martial Supreme Grandmaster?
"What are you standing there for? Let's go! If the Martial Supremacy behind them catches up, we won't be able to escape."
Seeing Tang Moxixi still standing there in a daze, Ye Wushuang wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and urged her anxiously.
"Huh?" Tang Moxixi was momentarily stunned. Did this guy have some sort of misunderstanding about a Martial Supremacy?
An exalted figure of that level wouldn't possibly come to hunt them down personally.
Without giving Tang Moxixi a chance to ask, Ye Wushuang grabbed her hand and ran all the way.
However, the two soon stopped in an alley.
It wasn't because they were blocked, nor because Ye Wushuang felt safe, but because Tang Moxixi couldn't run another step.
"No, we have to keep moving. This place isn't safe for long. A Martial Supremacy already possesses initial spiritual awareness, meaning they can sense things within at least a kilometer radius."
Ye Wushuang's face was grave.
Tang Moxixi looked speechless. "Why didn't we just take a taxi instead of running? No matter how fast your legs are, can they outrun four wheels?"
Catching sight of a row of taxis not far away, inspiration suddenly struck her.
Ye Wushuang shook his head. He turned his trouser pockets completely inside out, failing to produce even a single coin.
"I don't have money for a cab," Ye Wushuang said righteously.
"I do," Tang Moxixi said, between laughter and tears. She covered her forehead, looking utterly defeated.
To think she had been running around with this guy for ages just because he didn't have cab fare.
Flagging down a taxi, Tang Moxixi motioned for Ye Wushuang to get inside.
"To Bright Moon Villa," Tang Moxixi told the driver, her expression anxious.
She had been studying out of town when she suddenly received news that her grandfather was critically ill, and had rushed back in a panic.
However, as soon as she stepped out of the station, she was ambushed by several men in black.
Fortunately, Ye Wushuang had stepped in to deal with them, allowing her to escape unharmed.
The white BYD sped down the road, soon carrying them to the entrance of a mountainside estate.
Tang Moxixi took out a bill, paid the fare, and got out of the car.
"Why aren't you getting out?"
Seeing Ye Wushuang sitting motionless in the car, Tang Moxixi looked puzzled.
"There's evil energy here. I'm scared," Ye Wushuang said timidly.
Since childhood, his eyes had been washed with Grandmaster's heavenly light water, allowing him to see many things invisible to ordinary people.
Hovering above this mountainside estate was a thick, swirling shroud of evil energy.
Others couldn't see it, but he could spot it at a glance.
"What evil energy? What nonsense are you spouting? Come with me."
Speechless, Tang Moxixi walked over and yanked Ye Wushuang out of the backseat.
"I don't want to. I'm not going in," Ye Wushuang protested.
That evil energy looked terrifying, and he was just a weak, helpless Grandmaster who only knew a tiny bit of Daoism and Buddhism—he didn't dare court death.
"Come inside with me, and I'll give you ten thousand yuan."
Seeing that Ye Wushuang was impervious to reason, Tang Moxixi had no choice but to resort to a financial offensive.
Looking so sloppy and poor, surely he wouldn't turn his nose up at money, she thought to herself.
Sure enough, upon hearing about money, Ye Wushuang's eyes lit up instantly.
"It's a deal."
Without even waiting for Tang Moxixi to lead the way, he marched into the estate first.
As for that ball of evil energy—well, since he was a Grandmaster versed in Daoist arts, as long as he didn't actively provoke it, self-preservation shouldn't be a problem, right?
"Eldest Miss, you're back. Who is this?"
Seeing Tang Moxixi approach, the middle-aged security guard at the gate hastily asked.
The Tang Family was currently going through a special period; unauthorized outsiders definitely weren't allowed in.
"Uncle Cao, he's a friend of mine. No need to be so nervous," Tang Moxixi said with a smile.
Although she was the Eldest Miss of the Tang Family, she put on no airs and was very easygoing with ordinary people.
"Alright, Eldest Miss." The middle-aged guard called Uncle Cao gave Ye Wushuang a curious look.
Then, he opened the security barrier at the gate and let the two of them through.
Upon entering the estate, the pall of evil energy grew even denser, shrouding a small villa ahead.
Ye Wushuang followed closely at Tang Moxixi's heels, step for step.
He kept his gaze lowered and remained completely silent, terrified of drawing the attention of that evil energy.
As they approached the small villa, the sound of mournful weeping drifted over.
Tang Moxixi shivered, as if suddenly remembering something. Her eyes instantly welled up with tears, and she broke into a run.
Hesitating for a moment, Ye Wushuang followed her into the villa.
At that moment, the living room was packed with people.
They were clustered around a golden nanmu coffin in the center of the room, gazing at the old man inside and sobbing incessantly.
"Grandfather! Xiaoxi is back, please wake up and look at Xiaoxi!"
Tang Moxixi threw herself over the coffin, crying a bitter, tear-streaked tear.
Ye Wushuang frowned, feeling somewhat puzzled.
Wasn't this old man still alive? He was still hanging on by a thread—why was everyone here already crying?
"Isn't he still alive? What are you crying for?" Ye Wushuang scratched his head and couldn't help asking.
"Grandfather isn't dead?" Tang Moxixi's crying stopped abruptly. A snot bubble popped out of her nose, but she quickly sucked it back in, revealing a face beaming with ecstatic joy.
"Yes, he still has a breath left," Ye Wushuang nodded.
By this time, quite a few people had noticed the sloppy vagrant.
A middle-aged man stepped forward, his face stern and cold. "Who are you, and why are you in our house? Where are the security guards?"
"Second Uncle, he's my friend. Please show some respect," Tang Moxixi said coldly.
Then, she turned to Ye Wushuang, her voice trembling as she asked, "Do you have a way to save my grandfather?"
"I do, but..." Ye Wushuang twiddled the hem of his shirt, suddenly looking hesitant.
"But what?" Hearing a glimmer of hope, Tang Moxixi asked urgently through her tears.
"You want money, right? I have some right here, I'll give it to you! As long as you can save my grandfather, I'll give you however much you want."
Ye Wushuang sighed and shook his head. "It's not a question of money. It's just that I don't want to make enemies."
Tang Moxixi was startled. "Make enemies? What do you mean?"
Clearly, she hadn't noticed that the moment Ye Wushuang spoke those words, a flash of murderous intent crossed someone's eyes in the living room.
"Your grandfather has been poisoned by a Gu worm—man-made. You catch my drift."
Feeling extremely uncomfortable under Tang Moxixi's fixed stare, Ye Wushuang helplessly dropped a veiled hint of the truth.
Hearing this, Tang Moxixi's gaze instantly turned icy.
She didn't understand what a Gu worm was, but she certainly understood the words "man-made."
Tang Moxixi swept her gaze across everyone in the room, as if trying to find a clue in their expressions.
