Tang Qingshan did not hesitate at all. He immediately took out a checkbook and wrote out a check for twenty million for him.
Among that, eleven million was Ye Wushuang's reward, while the remaining nine million was Tang Qingshan's gesture of goodwill.
A Martial Grandmaster, and yet so young—he had to pull out all the stops to win him over, no matter what it took.
"I want money. What do you mean by giving me a piece of paper?"
Ye Wushuang grinned, looking deeply dissatisfied.
Did they really take him for some bumpkin who had just come down the mountain and knew nothing?
Along his journey here, he had long since figured things out.
The only things that could be spent down the mountain were red paper notes; there was never any such thing as white paper.
Tang Qingshan was dumbfounded. Holding the check that Ye Wushuang had tossed back to him, he stood frozen for a long time, unable to utter a word.
"This is a check," Tang Moxixi said, glancing at Ye Wushuang with a rather peculiar expression.
Ye Wushuang scratched his head. "A check? What kind of critter is that?"
Tang Moxixi was utterly speechless, wearing the expression of someone who had completely given up.
Afterward, she forced herself to remain patient and explained the purpose of a check to Ye Wushuang from beginning to end.
Only then did Ye Wushuang understand, realizing to his horror that he had made a fool of himself once again.
His aged face flushed red. Looking at the check in Tang Qingshan's hand, keeping it felt wrong, but returning it felt wrong too.
Fortunately, Tang Qingshan was a wily old fox. Seeing the look on Ye Wushuang's face, he immediately took the initiative to hand the check back.
"Then if I'm holding this check, how am I supposed to pay for meals when I go out?"
After thinking it over, Ye Wushuang still voiced the doubt in his heart, humbly asking the two of them for guidance.
Even if he were laughed at, it was still far better than eating a meal later and finding himself unable to pay, only to be publicly denounced.
"A check can't be used directly; you have to go to a bank to exchange it," Tang Moxixi said.
Nodding, Tang Qingshan offered a suggestion: "My young friend, why don't you freshen up here first, and I'll have the butler go help you exchange some cash."
"Rest assured, we have some pastries here that will be enough to tide you over until your hunger is somewhat relieved."
"Well... alright then..."
Looking down to inspect his own attire, Ye Wushuang decided it was indeed necessary to wash up and change.
Otherwise, if he walked out looking like this, people would think he was a beggar.
Led by the butler Old Gu, Ye Wushuang entered a guest room and proceeded to take a bath.
"Xiao Xi, what do you think of young friend Ye?" Tang Qingshan asked with a smile.
After Ye Wushuang left, only the grandfather and granddaughter remained in the expansive living room.
Tang Moxixi's cheeks turned slightly red. Born into a prominent family, how could she fail to understand Tang Qingshan's underlying meaning?
He was asking her to use her charms to seduce Ye Wushuang and tie him to the Tang Family.
"He's very mysterious. His combat skills and medical arts are formidable, but it feels like he hasn't seen much of the world."
After serious consideration, Tang Moxixi gave her honest assessment.
Nodding, Tang Qingshan smiled and said, "Indeed, your grandfather thinks the same way."
"So, if you take the initiative, you still have a very good chance. After all, the pavilion closest to the water gets the moonlight first."
If the other party were some decrepit old man, Tang Qingshan certainly wouldn't be playing matchmaker so recklessly.
However, Ye Wushuang and Tang Moxixi were of the same generation—he was even two or three years younger than her—which made this an entirely different matter.
To win over a Martial Grandmaster like Ye Wushuang, employing a beauty trap was a tactic well worth using.
Tang Moxixi felt a wave of embarrassment, yet deep down she felt not the slightest bit of repulsion.
Though she had only known Ye Wushuang for half a day, they had already been through two life-and-death ordeals together, and she had inevitably developed a certain fondness for him.
"No way, Old Master Tang, the pastries in your guest room aren't even enough to fill the gaps between my teeth!"
By the time Ye Wushuang emerged from his bath and changed his clothes, half an hour had already passed.
Having undergone a complete makeover, Ye Wushuang walked over with an expression of great displeasure.
So much for promising to stuff him full—in the end, they only gave him two small desserts, which weren't nearly enough for him to eat.
Tang Moxixi turned to stare at him, her cheeks flushed.
Who would have thought that this fellow would actually look quite handsome once he was cleaned up?
Seeing his granddaughter spacing out, Tang Qingshan was rendered speechless.
Could this girl please stop acting like a lovesick fool? He had specifically created this opportunity for her—she needed to seize it properly and fast!
Tang Qingshan cleared his throat loudly several times, finally managing to pull Tang Moxixi's thoughts back to reality.
"I'll take you out to get some proper food."
Without waiting for Tang Qingshan to prompt her further, Tang Moxixi took the initiative to offer to treat Ye Wushuang to a meal.
A handsome younger brother who was exceptionally capable—who wouldn't love that?
Ye Wushuang was overjoyed.
Having someone else treat him to a meal was the best possible outcome.
The two bid farewell to Tang Qingshan and headed out.
To show off her status as a minor woman of wealth, Tang Moxixi deliberately drove out her little pink sports car.
It prompted Ye Wushuang to click his tongue in wonder, acting just like a bumpkin who had never seen the world.
"I wanted to ask earlier, how can this big lump of iron with four wheels drive so fast? It's practically keeping up with my own running speed."
Sitting in the passenger seat, Ye Wushuang chattered nonstop, just like Granny Liu entering the Grand View Garden.
Initially, Tang Moxixi was still answering him with great patience.
However, with Ye Wushuang's next remark, she nearly twisted her nose in anger.
"You're being so nice to me—you don't have some ulterior motive, do you?"
A hint of suspicion flickered in Ye Wushuang's eyes.
"As if! I happen to have very high standards. You look far too ordinary, so I could never possibly like you."
"Don't worry, I don't like you either."
Tang Moxixi gritted her teeth. "I'm treating you to a meal simply to thank you for saving me and my grandfather."
"Oh, so that's how it is."
Ye Wushuang nodded, a trace of disappointment unexpectedly showing on his face.
The car sped forward and quickly came to a halt at the entrance of a large shopping mall.
After parking the car, Tang Moxixi walked into the mall alongside Ye Wushuang.
Gazing at the dazzling array of delicacies filling the mall, Ye Wushuang's eyes lit up brightly.
"Whatever you want to eat, just say the word!" Tang Moxixi said expressionlessly.
She was feeling somewhat restless, her mind completely occupied by Ye Wushuang's earlier comment about her looking too ordinary.
"Well then, I won't be polite."
Ye Wushuang rubbed his hands together, completely oblivious to Tang Moxixi's bizarre behavior.
With a beaming smile, he walked into a Chinese restaurant.
The two of them secured a private dining room.
"We can order anything we want to eat, right?"
"Mhm, order whatever you like."
Receiving Tang Moxixi's affirmative reply, Ye Wushuang's mind was immediately put at ease.
He took the menu and, without even glancing at it, drew a massive checkmark across the entire page. "I'll take one of everything, please."
Tang Moxixi was dumbfounded. "You—this is way too much."
It wasn't that she was feeling stingy about the money.
In fact, buying out this entire restaurant on the spot would be a matter of minutes for Tang Moxixi.
It was simply that she disliked extravagance and waste.
Ordering only as much as you could eat was the proper respect due to food.
The waitress was also startled out of her wits.
In her three years in the industry, she had never seen anyone order food like this.
"Sir, are you certain you want this much?"
With a professional smile, the waitress sought confirmation from Ye Wushuang.
After all, preparing such a massive quantity of dishes all at once was no small feat.
She had to make sure Ye Wushuang was entirely serious before she dared to report the order to the kitchen.
"Of course I'm certain," Ye Wushuang nodded heavily.
Then, he put on a deeply aggrieved expression. "I've been starving all day. Is it really that strange for me to eat a little more?"
Hearing this, Tang Moxixi choked back her words, then waved her hand in helpless speechlessness.
"Just prepare it according to his order."
Nodding, the waitress finally turned and left the private room.
