More than three hundred years ago, the catastrophe began without warning.
Red vines emerged from deep within the earth, growing at a frantic pace until over twenty percent of the globe's landmass was transformed into a crimson ocean. Each vine was so thick that it took more than a dozen people holding hands to encircle it, climbing tens of meters into the air before drooping back down.
Vessel-like structures covered the surfaces of the vines, through which bright red fluids pulsed, delivering nourishment to every enormous blossom. People gave them a name: the Crimson Blood Vine.
