Sariel remained silent for a long moment, then gave a slight nod. He no longer wore the unrestrained, lively expression he had displayed in front of Xingyu.
Xingyu was not offended; she merely realized with a start that Sariel was no longer the person she remembered. She was someone prone to forgetting—much like any human, she would purge her memories every hundred years. Almost nothing could leave a lasting mark on her, which was why she appeared as light and airy as a feather. Despite having lived for eons, she remained childish and naive.
In truth, however, even Sariel, who shared a similar disposition, could not be as indifferent as Xingyu. Angels were emotionally detached, yet how could he possibly forget the memories accumulated over thousands and tens of thousands of years?
