When Xingyu returned, Xu Lingjing was standing by the window, talking on the phone. His slender fingers gripped the phone as he tilted his head slightly toward the window. The four or five o’clock sunlight, bright yet softened, spilled onto his face, highlighting the shimmering, moonlit luster in his incredibly deep, black pupils. Under the swaying shadows of the trees, the tips of his slightly coarse black hair stirred in the breeze, stripping away much of the cold, rigid air he usually carried. Hearing the door open, Xu Lingjing glanced at her, then turned his gaze away in silence. His thin lips were pressed into a faint, calm, and indifferent line; he appeared unruffled, as if nothing had happened.
