Thrown into the next world without any warning, Xingyu opened her eyes to find herself standing by a bridge. Lined along both sides of the bridge were rows of houses, arranged in an orderly yet picturesque fashion. Some were tall, others low, but all looked as if they had been plucked from a fairy tale, painted in bright, vibrant colors. The windowsills and doorways were overflowing with flowers of every hue, and as a gentle breeze drifted by, it carried a sweet, pleasant fragrance. Below the bridge, the lake was so clear it served as a perfect mirror. Xingyu crouched down, peering into the water to look at her reflection. The young girl mirrored in the lake bore a seventy to eighty percent resemblance to Xingyu’s original appearance. She wore a light green linen dress, patched with clumsy stitches, with the cuffs frayed and worn. The ends of her cascading black hair were tipped with a deep, vivid green, and her upturned, star-like eyes shimmered with a faint, ghostly emerald light—resembling a forest spirit born of nature, untouched by the mortal world. She was indescribably beautiful and ethereal, yet so intimidating that one dared not meet her gaze, unnerved by the deep, sinister intensity radiating from those narrow, green eyes.
