He held her like a massive, overgrown hound, his chin resting in the hollow of her neck, his heavy, ragged breathing ghosting against her ear. His breath was a surging wave of heat—thick, scorching, and intense. Xingyu was incredibly ticklish, and the hand holding her spoon trembled from time to time. Finally, unable to bear it any longer, she patted his arm. She looked back at him, her cheeks flushed, though she wasn't sure if it was from the heat.
