Over in the System Space, 001 didn't dare sleep either. Trembling with anxiety, she tried to blindly guess the next step of the plot, only to watch Lord Heavenly Dao pull several outrageous stunts like a spoiled brat.
First, she took off the hair tie she had bought the day before and threw it into the trash can, then cashed out 600 yuan from the class monitor and transferred it to He Yi via WeChat.
When He Yi returned, he immediately noticed the waist-length hair hanging loose beside her.
Because school rules required girls to tie up their hair, her hair—long, neat, and cascading down like a waterfall—was so obvious when left unbound.
His heart skipped a beat. The hair tie with the small white pearl was gone.
While anxiously scrolling through his phone, he saw a 600-yuan WeChat transfer from Qin Jiujiu. He replied with a question mark, but the other person ignored him.
His finger slipped and he accidentally tapped accept. Filled with annoyance, he sent two more question marks, only to be greeted by a big red exclamation mark indicating he had been blocked...
He Yi abruptly slammed his phone face down. Gritting his teeth in anger, he stole a glance at Qin Jiujiu. Very well, she wore a completely expressionless face and couldn't even be bothered to spare him a single look.
He flipped his phone back over, stared at the 600 yuan, and as a thought struck him, his heart skipped another beat.
He opened the class WeChat group.
【He Yi】: Did someone lend money to Qin Jiujiu?
Luckily, someone replied during class.
【Liu Qing】: DM me.
Ding!
【Liu Qing】: Brother Yi, I happened to need to top up my meal card, so Qin Jiujiu traded her meal card for 600 yuan from me. I transferred it to her via WeChat.
【He Yi】: How did you trade?
【Liu Qing】: 600 for 1000. She suggested it herself. What's wrong?
【He Yi】: You're dead.
【Liu Qing】: ......I'm so wronged, Brother Yi! Can I undo the trade? ......[folding hands.jpg]
【He Yi】: 600 for 600. Go tell her yourself.
【Liu Qing】: Understood......
He Yi put his phone down, feeling as though a massive, wind-whipping crater had been gouged out of his chest. He finally understood what it felt like for a fallen tiger to be bullied by dogs. Damn it! When all was said and done, he was still just a dog!
The first mock exam results came out. Qin Jiujiu ranked 20th in the class and 26th in the entire grade, with a total score of 630 points.
Her classmates had also learned of her academic standing, and some who wanted to befriend her were eager to make a move, yet held back by the oppressive low pressure radiating from the back row, not daring to walk over and speak to her.
For the next few days, He Yi even skipped the training sessions arranged by his coach. Every day he sat desolately at his desk during class, and even showed up for evening self-study—something he rarely ever did—falling just short of a personal apology. Unfortunately, Qin Jiujiu simply treated him like air.
He Yi looked utterly listless, like a big drooping-eared dog.
By early Thursday morning, Qin Jiujiu had no enthusiasm for morning reading. She dawdled, arriving rather late, and was the last to enter the classroom.
As soon as she arrived, she saw a box of chocolate milk on her desk.
She glared at Fu Yu. Fu Yu hurriedly waved his hands in denial: "It wasn't me, it wasn't me! I already finished delivering mine......"
Qin Jiujiu scanned the room. "Who gave this?"
The surrounding students peeked at her secretly, but no one confessed.
Qin Jiujiu picked up the milk, her voice neither loud nor soft: "I don't drink beverages of unknown origin." With that, she stood up from her seat and headed toward the trash can to throw it away.
He Yi finally couldn't sit still any longer. He bolted up and grabbed her. With his large palms and long fingers, he easily circled her milk-holding arm a time and a half, squeezing out a conciliatory low voice from between his lips: "I gave it. Drink it!"
Qin Jiujiu fought down the involuntary tremor in her body caused by his touch, and shot him a look of utter disdain.
The sheer power of that look almost caused He Yi to mentally collapse.
He Yi watched as she acted like a supreme queen, switching the milk to her other hand with a speed he had no time to stop. Without even looking after the switch, she tossed it backward in an arc. With a clatter, the milk accurately landed right into a trash can several meters away.
He Yi felt as though she hadn't thrown away milk, but rather his heart, shattered into glass shards.
As if unsatisfied, she ground those glass shards further into the dirt: "Trash belongs in the trash can."
The impact on the trash can made quite a racket, and almost everyone in the back row twisted around to watch the spectacle.
Badass! She was just that badass!
Thrilling! It was just that thrilling!
Fu Yu gave a start. He genuinely wanted to applaud the celestial beauty's blind-throwing accuracy, but seeing He Yi's defeated expression, he swallowed those thoughts back and probed for military intelligence on WeChat.
【Fu Yu】: Brother Yi, thrilling isn't it? The young miss has quite a temper. Still want to chase her? [smoking.jpg]
【He Yi】: Her temper is great. The bad one is mine.
Fu Yu didn't know about the incident between He Yi and Qin Jiujiu at the auto repair shop. Seeing this message, his eyes widened in shock.
Was this really something He Yi—someone he had known for so many years—could say? Was this really something Brother Yi, who had just lost face in front of so many people, could say?
He's poisoned, he's seriously poisoned!
Before he could figure out what was going on, He Yi sent a new message.
【He Yi】: Find a few people to help me with something......
