Chapter 5

An oppressive atmosphere lingered in women's dormitory room 606, and it had persisted for quite some time.
Tang Yu quietly observed Xu Ke, feeling somewhat curious about her current psychological state.
From the moment she stepped inside, Xu Ke had been sitting in her chair with a chilling expression, occasionally gritting her teeth. Her cold, clear eyes remained locked on her phone screen, as if waiting for something.
Having known each other for over two years, they were all used to her usual aloof demeanor, making her current state feel genuinely unfamiliar.
And all of this stemmed from a person she disliked—which left Tang Yu extremely puzzled. If Xu Ke truly didn't care about Qin Luo at all, why would she be this angry because of him?
Nearby, Yao Yanyan was sitting in her chair browsing the campus forum. Every now and then, she would glance up at Xu Ke, then press her lips together and shiver her shoulders, looking as though she was trying hard to hold back laughter.
She was the type of person who loved watching the drama unfold without fearing things getting too big. Right now, the campus forum was flooded with posts about what had just happened at the entrance of the women's dormitory. As one of the people directly involved, Yao Yanyan was drawing a lot of attention.
Especially Qin Luo's remark at the time, "I like you even better now," which had pushed her right into the spotlight. Many people were even claiming that she had secretly stolen someone else's man behind the scenes, snatching away Xu Ke's loyal lapdog.
Yao Yanyan didn't care much about such rumors. Right now, just like Tang Yu, she was simply curious about what was going on in Xu Ke's mind and what she would do next.
As for the Chu sisters—Chu Sijin and Chu Liunian—one was sipping milk tea while watching a food video, while the other was completely absorbed in a new anime series, with the soft voices of Two-Dimensional pretty girls occasionally drifting from her phone, serving as the only sign of life in the quiet dormitory.
Suddenly—
"Bang!"
The dead silence was shattered by a muffled thud. The others looked up to see Xu Ke suddenly slamming her phone heavily onto the desk. Her eyes, which usually looked like they contained a millennium-old iceberg, seemed to have been replaced by a volcano, ready to erupt at any moment.
"Qin Luo, that jerk!"
"What right does he have not to reply to my messages? What right does he have not to apologize to me?!"
"He actually dares to block me... I'll never pay attention to him again! Never again!"
She acted as if she had suffered some monstrous humiliation, venting her anger aloud. Her fair face was slightly flushed, and her rapid breathing caused her chest to heave.
For a woman who had been loved and pampered by everyone around her since childhood, Qin Luo's actions today were no different from an insult.
Back at the dormitory entrance, she had already wanted to blow her top, but she had been caught off guard by Qin Luo's series of bizarre moves one after another. In the end, Qin Luo slipped away, leaving her with no target to vent upon.
Now back in the dormitory, thinking it over and over, she simply couldn't swallow this grievance.
They say holding it in leads to breast hyperplasia, and holding back further causes ovarian cysts... Xu Ke desperately wanted Qin Luo to bow his head and apologize. For this, she had even taken the initiative to message Qin Luo for the very first time, yet in return she only received his indifference and a block. How could she possibly accept this?
Seeing Xu Ke in such a discomposed state, Tang Yu couldn't help leaning over to glance at her phone screen.
And then she saw the string of messages Xu Ke had sent, followed by the glaring red exclamation mark next to the final message.
This left Tang Yu feeling both surprised and deep in thought.
According to her earlier hypothesis, the most likely reason Qin Luo had acted that way today was that he could no longer bear Xu Ke's attitude toward him, so he wanted to force a change. That was why he purposely withheld the milk tea from Xu Ke and brought out Yao Yanyan as a pawn—all to provoke Xu Ke.
In Tang Yu's mind, if things had reached this point, Qin Luo's plan could be considered a success. Next, he should find a way to coax Xu Ke, letting her know that he had a temper too.
Yet not only did he fail to do that, but he had even blocked Xu Ke on WeChat...
Had he misjudged the force and gone too far? Or... did he truly no longer like Xu Ke and intend to give up?
Tang Yu couldn't sort it out for a moment, so she simply advised, "Alright, it's just a milk tea, it's not worth getting this angry. You can have my cup."
With that, she handed over the unopened jasmine green milk tea she had previously accepted from Qin Luo toward Xu Ke.
"Do you think I'm angry over a cup of milk tea?"
Xu Ke let out a dry, mocking laugh, as if she were being driven crazy by anger, and glared at Tang Yu as she said, "He bought milk tea for all of you, but deliberately left me out. He clearly still had several cups left in his hands, yet he claimed he only brought them for his roommates. Isn't this deliberately trying to make a fool of me and humiliate me?"
Tang Yu frowned. She had done this out of good intentions, but it seemed to have the opposite effect, making Xu Ke even angrier.
Beside them, Yao Yanyan shook her long legs encased in black silk and leisurely said, "To put it bluntly, aren't you throwing a tantrum just because of a cup of milk tea? Is it really worth getting this furious?"
After saying this, she even took a sip from her own cup of red bean milk tea, a slightly exaggerated expression of enjoyment forming on her face.
Xu Ke glanced at her, as if she had been provoked once more. The corners of her mouth twitched slightly as she suddenly stepped forward: "Give me your cup."
Yao Yanyan raised an eyebrow: "What for? I've already been drinking from this."
"What? Is the milk tea Qin Luo gave you really that delicious? You're holding onto it that tightly?"
"I have no idea what you're talking about, it's just a cup of milk tea..."
"Just a cup of milk tea? Wasn't that a gift from Qin Luo to confess and make amends to you?"
"Pfft..."
Yao Yanyan couldn't help herself, spitting out the milk tea she had just sucked into her mouth. The look she gave Xu Ke was tinged with absurdity.
Seeing this, Xu Ke sneered, "What? Such a big reaction? Did I hit the nail on the head? Tell me, when did you and Qin Luo start? Was today's stunt something the two of you planned together, specifically to make a fool of me?"
"I-fu*king..."
Yao Yanyan sprang to her feet. With her quick temper flaring up, she felt an urge to smash the milk tea right into Xu Ke's face.
Right now, she truly felt wronged and innocent. Although her personal lifestyle often led to unpleasant rumors circulating around campus, she didn't care about those because most of the time, she did them on purpose.
But this was different. She had been completely in the dark about today's events, especially when Qin Luo handed her the milk tea and then openly confessed to her in public—that had completely shocked her.
And now Xu Ke was using this to needle her, claiming she had long been messing around with Qin Luo behind the scenes. How could Yao Yanyan possibly endure that?
Seeing the atmosphere between the two suddenly turn tense and explosive, Tang Yu quickly interjected, "Alright, Xu Ke, calm down first. I believe Yanyan wouldn't do something like that. The only reason Qin Luo did those things today is for one reason."
"What reason?"
Those four words were asked in unison by the other four people, excluding Tang Yu.
Yao Yanyan and Xu Ke aside... what business do you two, who only know how to eat and watch, have joining in the excitement? Tang Yu looked at the Chu sisters speechlessly and said calmly, "It's very simple. Because he doesn't like you anymore."
