Li Dai had always thought of "human pigs" as something that existed only in legends. She truly could not imagine how much hatred one person must hold for another to cut off their limbs, age their appearance, and scar their faces, all while keeping them alive, sealed in jars of alcohol or brine, living a life worse than death. Blocked by the mountain behind it, the man-made cave was completely devoid of sunlight or light, damp and pitch-black.
