Sensing that the man had reached the verge of an outburst, and given the recent mishap, Li Dai lost all appetite for further mischief.
Looking again at the pool of blood on the ground, it no longer seemed quite so terrifying—at least her body had grown accustomed to such carnage.
Having achieved her goal, Li Dai did not linger. She stood up, looked at the man's ever-changing expression, and said, "I'm off, then! Have a nice, comfortable rest lying here!" Don't say she was merciless and left him to die; anyone with such formidable presence and an obviously extraordinary status spelled danger and trouble, and she loathed trouble above all else.
Besides, she had touched this man and vented her anger on him; she had thoroughly offended him, and she was in plenty of time to stay far away from him.
Just as Li Dai's retreating figure was about to vanish from sight, the man's expression suddenly shifted. He looked up at the terrifying pressure descending from the far sky—that person's presence; he knew it all too well, yet he never expected the fellow to track him here.
If he were found in his current state, he could easily imagine his own end.
Yet, hatefully, he could not move a single muscle.
At this thought, the man's expression flickered repeatedly. He turned his head to glance at the direction Li Dai was leaving, and finally spoke. "Stop! Take me away from here!" he commanded.
Li Dai's climbing form paused. Why did that sound so much like the man's voice? He should have been desperate for her to go as far away as possible instead of continuing to torment him; why would he call out to her? Thinking she was simply hearing things, she didn't even look back and continued upward.
"Did you not hear me tell you to stop?!" His tone turned somewhat harsh.
Surprised, Li Dai looked back. This time she was certain it was no hallucination. "You're calling me?"
Yanyan looked at her as if she were an idiot, and snapped, "Who else?"
Li Dai chuckled and teased, "What? Can't bear to see me leave?"
Yanyan had never encountered such a narcissistic, thick-skinned little bean sprout before. But remembering that he needed something from her, he instantly wiped every other expression from his face and said somewhat awkwardly, "Come help me up and get me out of here!"
Even if they left, there was no guarantee they would find a safe place for him to recover, but remaining sprawled out here was a dead end.
That person's strength was on par with his; even using secret arts would be of little use now.
He just wondered who could have tipped them off that he came down here.
"Take you with me?" Li Dai was extremely surprised. Was this man's brain broken? What made him think she would agree? She had no interest in keeping a dangerous element by her side.
Perhaps her expression was too transparent, as Yanyan asked directly, "What do you want?"
Li Dai grew slightly interested. Although she had no idea why he had suddenly changed his mind and wanted to leave with her, wasn't this a mugging opportunity delivered right to her doorstep? Wearing the look of a money-grubber, she tilted her head and thought for a moment. "Taking you isn't out of the question, but you have to agree to three conditions!"
Yanyan clenched his fists and gritted his teeth. "Speak!"
Li Dai clapped her hands together and said with eager enthusiasm, "First, you must swear by the Heavenly Dao that you will not harm my life!" Although she had never practiced immortality, she knew cultivators valued their promises and rarely swore oaths lightly; breaking an oath after swearing one easily gave rise to inner demons.
Since she had already offended him, for the sake of her future well-being, she had better nip the danger in the bud.
Yanyan gave her a peculiar look before replying, "Fine!" As soon as he agreed, he immediately initiated the oath, and the rules of the Heavenly Dao instantly descended.
Satisfied, Li Dai rubbed her hands together and smiled somewhat awkwardly. "Well, you know I'm dirt poor right now, and I haven't the slightest idea how to start cultivating. So, just hand over some cultivation methods and spirit stones."
Hearing this, Yanyan wore an "I knew it" expression and directly produced an unremarkable bracelet, tossing it over. "The things inside will be enough for you to cultivate for a while..." Although wealthy, he was no fool; the items inside the bracelet were meager, and moreover, they were just the rubbish he usually discarded.
There was indeed a cultivation method inside the bracelet, a divine-tier one whose grade was on par with the "Evil Sword" arts he practiced. Unfortunately, it was only a fragment, completely incapable of reaching mastery. He usually tossed it into a corner and ignored it, so parting with it now caused him no heartache. Besides, she seemed completely clueless; if she ran into trouble practicing that technique, it wouldn't be his concern.
Hmph, so what if he had sworn an oath? He was a very petty person.
Yanyan never imagined that this minor bit of pettiness on his part would accidentally nurture a powerful existence, entangling him with her for the rest of his life.
Catching the bracelet, Li Dai was overjoyed. She hadn't expected Yanyan to be so generous, gifting her such a precious storage bracelet. Regardless of what was inside, the intrinsic value of the bracelet itself was incalculable.
In the current Cultivation World, anyone who could afford a storage bracelet was a person of status and standing. At least, in the original owner's memories, no one in the Li Family possessed such a trinket.
What Yanyan considered mere trash, Li Dai viewed as a supreme treasure. On one hand, having just transmigrated into this world, her horizons were limited.
On the other hand, the resources in the lower realm were simply too barren, creating a vast disparity between them.
Eagerly, Li Dai bit her finger and bound the bracelet with her blood, her manner rather impatient.
Seeing this, Yanyan's mouth twitched. He simply couldn't bear to watch her idiotic display, and reminded her, "Spatial storage bracelets are bound using divine sense! You have to cultivate your..." Before he could finish, his throat choked up as if blocked, and he could no longer speak a word.
For the moment her blood dripped onto the bracelet, the trinket flashed with brilliant light, flew up to slide onto her wrist, and slowly vanished!
Vanished?! Yanyan: "..."
He seemed to have inadvertently given away some incredible treasure.
Heaven knows, he had simply picked that bracelet up at random from some ruins.
He had already cultivated a inner world within his body; those storage items were completely useless to him, mere chicken ribs.
He never imagined that binding it with blood would actually work. He certainly learned something new today.
"What's wrong?" Li Dai hadn't heard a word of what he said and looked at him in confusion.
Instantly wiping away his look of shock, Yanyan said indifferently, "Nothing. State your final condition."
The new book needs everyone's support. Many thanks!
