Li Dai stood within the vast, desolate wilderness. In the distance, heavy mists obscured the path ahead, and the place was so eerily silent that she had no idea where she was. She picked a direction at random and began to walk. To say she chose at random was not entirely accurate, however, for a few thousand meters away to her left-front, a speck of light seemed to flash and vanish, dimly glowing like a beacon in a pathless night.
Having no particular destination now, Li Dai simply headed toward that unusual sight.
She had thought it looked close and would take no time to reach, but after what felt like a month of walking, the speck of light remained at much the same distance—neither near nor far. As she advanced, it seemed to flee as well.
