Chapter 1: Chen Feiyu
In the scorching heat of summer, police sirens wailed across the street as three police cruisers sped along, clearly responding to a critical emergency.
Yet, strangely, inside one of the police cars sat a young man dressed in a half-lay, half-Taoist robe. A smile hung on his lips, and his relaxed demeanor contrasted sharply with the tense atmosphere among the other officers.
"The old man said life down the mountain is colorful and full of dazzling beauties of every shape and size. I hope he wasn't lying to me; otherwise, when I head back up the mountain, I'm going to eat all his pills refined from millennium snow lotus like they're jelly beans!"
The mere thought of the city's countless beauties sent a surge of excitement through the young man.
He was around seventeen or eighteen years old, wearing a blue Taoist robe patched at the shoulder, paired with jeans and cloth shoes. This half-lay, half-Taoist, mismatched outfit was rescued only by his handsome features, which added plenty of points, especially his dark, vibrant, and expressive eyes.
Chen Feiyu was an orphan. Since childhood, his master had lured him deep into the mountains with a lollipop to learn martial arts and medicine.
Gifted with extraordinary talent, his cultivation progressed by leaps and bounds. Despite his young age, he had already become a top-tier martial artist.
His medical skills, in particular, were nothing short of miraculous. Surpassing his master, he was praised by him as a reincarnation of Bian Que and Hua Tuo alive.
This time, sent down the mountain by his master's decree, he was on a mission to fulfill an arranged marriage dating back to his childhood.
"I've been down the mountain for many days now, and among all the women I've seen, the police officer sitting right beside me is by far the prettiest. Hehe, I wonder who looks better—my future wife or this police officer?"
Chen Feiyu glanced sideways at the female officer beside him. She was exceptionally stunning, with fair skin, red lips, and white teeth, her long hair tied in a high ponytail. Her spirited and heroic aura made one's heart skip a beat.
Next, he pulled a photograph from his chest pocket. It featured a breathtaking woman in a white professional suit—his fiancée, Su Yingxue!
Finally, after a difficult mental struggle, he made his decision: as pretty as the policewoman was, his own wife was definitely more gorgeous. Haha!
"What are you squinting and peeking around for?" Liu Shengnan glanced at Chen Feiyu. Seeing his hopelessly rustic outfit, her natural germaphobia caused a flash of disgust to cross her eyes. She shifted deliberately toward the window, putting some distance between herself and Chen Feiyu.
Her name was Liu Shengnan, and at a young age, she had already become the captain of the criminal police detachment. Having received a tip-off about a fugitive at large, she had immediately mobilized her team for the operation.
What Liu Shengnan hadn't expected, however, was that halfway there, Chen Feiyu had recklessly blocked her car. He had demanded a ride to Mingji City as if it were his birthright, refusing to leave no matter how she tried to chase him away. With time running out, she had no choice but to let him climb inside.
"Officer, you're very pretty, so I couldn't help taking a couple of extra glances," Chen Feiyu said with a grin, sliding the photo back into his pocket.
Liu Shengnan felt quite pleased, a hint of a smile curling the corners of her lips that made her heart-stoppingly gorgeous. However, Chen Feiyu's next sentence instantly reignited her anger.
"It's just that you're a tiny bit less pretty than my wife. Don't worry, really, just a tiny bit." As if deliberately trying to stir up trouble, Chen Feiyu even emphasized the point.
As the resident beauty of the police force, Liu Shengnan had always been extremely confident in her appearance. Naturally refusing to accept this, she couldn't help but huff, "Keep dreaming! With a look like yours, it's a toss-up whether you can even find a wife. I don't believe she's that gorgeous."
"Tsk, you don't believe me? My name is Chen Feiyu, and my wife is Su Yingxue. I've come to Mingji City specifically to find her. When I give you a chance to see her, you'll know I'm telling the truth," Chen Feiyu said with a smile.
Liu Shengnan and the tall officer driving in the front seat exchanged startled looks, exclaiming in unison, "Su Yingxue?"
"Yeah, Su Yingxue. What's wrong?" Chen Feiyu asked curiously.
Liu Shengnan ignored him and instead locked eyes with the tall officer.
"Captain Liu, are there any other people in Mingji City named Su Yingxue?" the tall officer asked.
"Probably," Liu Shengnan replied with a cold expression, nodding. Rather than wondering if there was another Su Yingxue, she was far more inclined to believe that Chen Feiyu was just talking nonsense.
Who was Su Yingxue? She was a woman so brilliantly accomplished that even Liu Shengnan felt a pang of jealousy—the crowning pearl of Mingji City's upper crust. How could someone like that ever take a fancy to a bumpkin like Chen Feiyu?

Chapter 2: The Hostage
Unfazed by Liu Shengnan's attitude, Chen Feiyu spoke up again, "Right, just drop me off outside the Chaoran Group building later. That's where I'll get out."
"Are you kidding me? We're on a mission here, not acting as your private chauffeur. You think you can just—wait. Captain Liu, isn't Chaoran Group the company belonging to Su Yingxue?"
The tall officer seemed to have realized something monumental and asked in utter disbelief.
Liu Shengnan was equally astonished.
Could this kid actually not be joking?
Could it be that inside the Chaoran Group, aside from President Su Yingxue, there was another employee named "Su Yingxue"?
Or perhaps... was the "wife" Chen Feiyu kept mentioning really Su Yingxue? The peerless, breathtaking president of Chaoran Group, the pride of Mingji City?
No, that was completely impossible. The kid had to be lying!
Liu Shengnan detested liars above all else. Her impression of Chen Feiyu plummeted to absolute zero, and her eyes filled with undisguised contempt.
"Captain Liu, let's just dump him on the streets of Mingji City so he doesn't slow us down," the tall officer suggested.
Liu Shengnan was about to nod in agreement when a second thought crossed her mind. "No need. We're pressed for time; we can't spare a single second. Drive straight to the destination."
"Huh?" The tall officer dropped his jaw in shock.
"What 'huh'? We're on an emergency operation here. If the suspect escapes, I'll write you up for a reprimand!"
A mysterious smile played at the corners of Liu Shengnan's lips.
She was already imagining how Chen Feiyu would tremble in terror the moment she pulled out her gun and went to work. It would be deeply satisfying.
Naturally, Chen Feiyu was unaware of Liu Shengnan's plans. He was still wondering what he should do if Su Yingxue didn't look as good as her photo.
If that happened, he'd just make Liu Shengnan his wife instead. After all, she was gorgeous enough that settling for her as a wife wouldn't be bad at all.
At this thought, Chen Feiyu looked at Liu Shengnan. The longer he looked, the more pleasing she seemed, and he nodded in satisfaction.
"What are you staring at?"
Feeling the heat of his intense gaze, Liu Shengnan frowned in displeasure.
Chen Feiyu smiled. "Since you're so pretty, why don't you be my wife? Of course, you'll have to be the junior wife, because my first wife is already spoken for."
This statement was so shocking it left the tall officer utterly petrified.
He had seen bold people before, but never anyone as brazen as Chen Feiyu.
Mind you, Liu Shengnan had reached the rank of criminal police captain at such a young age entirely through her own capabilities. Hailed as the top fighter in the police department, no one had ever dared to flirt with her to her face.
Yet Chen Feiyu had just done precisely that.
Through the rearview mirror, the officer glanced at Chen Feiyu and silently offered a prayer for the young man's soul.
Liu Shengnan was positively fuming. This bumpkin hadn't even bothered to look in a mirror, yet he dared to suggest she become his wife—and a junior one at that! It was pure bullying.
"If you don't say anything, that means you agree. This is fantastic! I never expected that on my very first day down the mountain, I'd find such a gorgeous junior wife. Heaven has truly been good to me, haha!" Chen Feiyu cheered.
"What kind of nonsense are you spouting?!" Liu Shengnan snarled furiously.
Chen Feiyu grinned. "Don't worry. Even though you're just the junior wife, I'll still treat you well. After all, a wife isn't as good as a concubine, and a concubine isn't as good as a stolen pleasure, right?"
Liu Shengnan felt on the verge of a breakdown, realizing that letting Chen Feiyu into the car was a monumental mistake. She snapped, "Little bastard, if you talk nonsense again, see if I don't kick you right out of this car!"
Just as Chen Feiyu was about to reply, the tall officer suddenly called out, "Captain Liu, we're almost there."
Liu Shengnan gave a start. This arrest was no trivial matter; not the slightest mistake could be tolerated. Thrusting Chen Feiyu's nonsense aside, she reined in her emotions and turned cold and focused once more.
By now, the police car had arrived outside the Lakeside Garden residential complex.
Seeing the police cordon already set up ahead, a chilling sense of foreboding gripped Liu Shengnan's heart.
This was entirely outside the operation plan.
Could the mission have been leaked? She glared at Chen Feiyu and said, "If you don't want to die, just stay quietly in the car. If you lose your life, don't blame me."
"My little concubine, why so tense? What are you about to do? Need some help from your husband? I'm quite capable, you know. With me on the job, I can take down any wanted criminal in an instant." Chen Feiyu volunteered; since his little concubine had a mission, it was only natural for him to step up.
"You jerk! I don't have time to deal with you now. Just you wait, I'll make you pay later. Humph!" Liu Shengnan said, gritting her teeth.
After they exited the car, a police officer who had arrived earlier ran over, panting. "Captain Liu, this is bad! The suspect spotted us, took a hostage, and is currently in a standoff. He specifically demanded that you come over."
"What?" Liu Shengnan exclaimed, rushing toward the scene.
Behind the police cordon, a burly man with a scarred face held a knife to a girl’s throat. He wore a cruel smile, ignoring the surrounding officers entirely.
When Liu Shengnan approached with her team, the scarred man finally reacted. A flame of hatred ignited in his eyes as he sneered, "Captain Liu, it’s been a long time. It’s time for you to pay for killing my brother."
Liu Shengnan’s expression was grave; she knew the situation was critical. She shouted, "You have nowhere to run now! If you're smart, let the hostage go and surrender. I’ll make sure you get a fair trial."
"Hah! What a joke," the scarred man scoffed triumphantly. "Five years ago, I wiped out a family of seven. Since then, I’ve committed nine more crimes, traveling across half of China, leading you police around in circles. You think you can make me surrender with just this few people?"
He sneered, "Enough talk. You killed my brother a year ago—a blood debt that cannot go unpaid. You want to save the hostage, right? Fine. Come over here and take her place. Well? Do you dare?"
The surrounding officers were stunned.
"Captain, don't do it!"
"This kind of murderer has no conscience. Captain, please don't jump into the fire pit!"
Liu Shengnan struggled internally, but she gritted her teeth, prepared to agree.
Suddenly, a vaguely familiar voice came from behind her: "Hey, hey, hey! Who do you think you are, trying to make my little concubine a hostage? Be careful, or I’ll dismantle you!"
Liu Shengnan and the others looked back to see Chen Feiyu, dressed in cheap, off-the-rack clothes, looking at the suspect with a nonchalant air.
"Didn't I tell you to stay in the car? Why are you here causing trouble?" Liu Shengnan was so angry she felt like spitting blood.
Chen Feiyu walked up to her and whispered in her ear, "I'll help you catch him, but will you be my little concubine?"
"Stop adding to the mess! What if you provoke him and he kills her?" Liu Shengnan asked anxiously. At the same time, she secretly regretted bringing Chen Feiyu along at all.
Chen Feiyu smiled but said nothing, walking straight toward the front. Liu Shengnan gasped in alarm.
"Get out of the way! What if you force him to kill her?" an officer shouted.
Chen Feiyu said with disdain, "A joke. This kind of trash thinks he can kill someone right under my nose?"
"Stand where you are!" The scarred man ignored Chen Feiyu, sneering, "Liu Shengnan, get over here now, or I'll kill her!" He pressed the blade closer to the girl's neck, and the young girl burst into tears.
Only then did Chen Feiyu notice the hostage. She was a girl of about seventeen or eighteen, with fair skin, delicate features, and a ponytail—an absolute beauty. Her tear-streaked face, full of fear and tension, made her look even more pitiful.
"Damn, she's actually that pretty? What a beast!" Chen Feiyu cursed.
The surrounding crowd was speechless—how could he be concerned about the hostage's looks at a time like this?
Liu Shengnan gritted her teeth and started walking forward to exchange places. A cruel smile spread across the scarred man's face.
Suddenly, Chen Feiyu’s eyes narrowed. Three silver needles appeared in his hand, and with a flick of his fingers, he shot them into the scarred man’s body with lightning speed.
To everyone’s shock, with a dull thud, the scarred man collapsed limply to the ground.
Terror filled his eyes. "I... I can't move!"
The situation flipped instantly. Everyone, including Liu Shengnan, was stunned, frozen in place. They couldn't fathom how the arrogant suspect had been subdued by Chen Feiyu with just three silver needles. Even more shocking was that none of them had seen how he did it.
Liu Shengnan’s eyes were filled with disbelief. She took a sharp breath, feeling for the first time that Chen Feiyu was shrouded in mystery.
Chen Feiyu walked up and patted the hostage on the head, flashing a brilliant smile. "Such a pretty girl—be careful when you go out in the future. You won't always be lucky enough to run into someone as capable as me."
Lin Yujia, the young hostage, felt that Chen Feiyu looked incredibly imposing. Her face turned red, and she whispered, "Mm."
Chen Feiyu smiled, picked up the dagger, and patted the suspect’s face. "Such a pretty girl, what if you'd scratched her face? You really have no sense of romance."
Liu Shengnan ran over and caught a glimpse of the three needles on the scarred man, but before she could see them clearly, Chen Feiyu had already snatched them away.
"What happened to him?" Liu Shengnan asked, startled.
Chen Feiyu laughed. "Don't worry, he'll be able to move again in two or three hours."
Liu Shengnan felt that Chen Feiyu was even more mysterious, her eyes filled with renewed astonishment.
"Don't forget what we just said. I caught him, so you have to be my little concubine. You can't go back on your word now, can you?" Chen Feiyu teased.
Liu Shengnan rolled her eyes, a charming smile spreading across her face. Chen Feiyu’s eyes lit up; he had to admit, his little concubine’s charm was irresistible.
"That was just you talking to yourself," Liu Shengnan laughed. "I never agreed to anything. But, I suppose I can manage to get you an award for bravery."
"You... you're going back on your word!" Chen Feiyu was speechless. On second thought, she really hadn't agreed. He couldn't believe his reputation was ruined by this young woman.
Seeing Chen Feiyu look so defeated, Liu Shengnan felt incredibly satisfied, and her smile deepened. "By the way, how did you subdue him? That was unbelievable."
"That’s my secret technique. Want to know?" Chen Feiyu whispered mysteriously. "Lean in, I'll tell only you."
Intrigued, Liu Shengnan leaned in. The warm air from Chen Feiyu’s breath brushed against her neck, and she felt a tickle; her face instantly turned red.
Chen Feiyu looked at her fair skin and teased, "It's simple. Just call me 'good husband,' and I'll tell you."
"Go to hell!"
Liu Shengnan realized she had been tricked. Furious, she swung a punch at Chen Feiyu’s face. Chen Feiyu dodged to the side and, with lightning speed, grabbed her delicate hand. It was incredibly soft and smooth. He couldn't resist kissing the back of it, murmuring, "So fragrant. Worthy of being my little concubine."
"You jerk!"
Enraged, Liu Shengnan pulled her hand back and launched a side kick. Chen Feiyu had already dodged to the side. As he ran off, he shouted with a laugh, "Little concubine, thanks for bringing me to Mingji City! I'm off to find my big concubine now. I'll come back to dote on you later!"
"You little thug! Don't let me catch you, or I'll castrate you!"
Liu Shengnan was livid. He had the nerve to talk about finding his "big concubine" right in front of her—was he implying she wasn't charming enough? *Pah! Why am I even thinking about that? This is ridiculous.*
She realized her own reaction and secretly cursed herself, her face flushing with shame. The tall officer was seeing this side of Liu Shengnan for the first time and stood there in a daze, wondering if his "tigress" of a captain had taken the wrong medication today.
Noticing the officer's strange gaze, Liu Shengnan lashed out in embarrassment, "What are you looking at? Get in the car and transport the suspect back! If he escapes, can you take the responsibility?"
The officer fell silent at once.
Liu Shengnan watched the direction in which Chen Feiyu had disappeared, her chest heaving with anger. She vowed to make him pay!
Of course, Chen Feiyu was unaware that the policewoman held a grudge against him. Even if he did know, he wouldn't care. His master had taught him that when dealing with disobedient women, one must conquer them with strength. If once wasn't enough, then twice; if twice wasn't enough, then three times. Women would eventually become submissive, just like a devoted little wife.
After asking a few people for directions, Chen Feiyu finally found the exact address of the Chaoran Group.
