"Go, go, go! This is no place for someone like you. Get out, get out!" The security guard didn't waste any time, ready to chase Chen Feiyu away.
Chen Feiyu didn't mind. He smiled and said, "I'm here to find someone."
"You're looking for someone? You have a friend working here?" The security guard looked at him with suspicion.
Chen Feiyu laughed. "Not a friend, but my wife. I'm here to find my wife. You'd better let me in."
The guard couldn't help but roll his eyes.
It was true; ninety-nine percent of the staff at Chaoran Group were women, and they were all young, beautiful, and single. As a result, the company’s reputation preceded it. Every few days, some rich kid would show up trying to pick up women, all claiming they had a wife working inside. Almost all of them were lying, and all of them were sent packing.
To think that now, even a country bumpkin wanted to try his luck. These days, you really saw it all.
The guard was so annoyed he laughed. With a look of contempt, he said, "You want to pick up girls, too? Why don't you go find a puddle and look at your own reflection? Does a bumpkin like you even stand a chance? Get lost before I call the police."
Chen Feiyu frowned. "My wife really does work here."
The guard sneered, "I think you’re just stubborn. Fine, tell me, what’s your wife’s name?"
Chen Feiyu was extremely displeased by the guard's dismissive attitude. He gave a cold smile and said, "Why should I tell you her name? I’m warning you, if you don’t move, you’ll regret the consequences!"
"Oh? What’s this? Are you trying to threaten me with violence?"
The guard scoffed. It wasn't entirely his fault; judging by his appearance, Chen Feiyu looked lean and weak, not like a man who could actually fight.
Chen Feiyu sneered, just about to take action, when suddenly, the sound of screeching tires echoed from behind him.
A beautiful woman in a black professional suit stepped out. She possessed an exceptional temperament, one that didn't pale even in comparison to Liu Shengnan.
Ye Yilin walked up and frowned, asking, "What are you two doing here?"
"Vice President Ye." Upon seeing who it was, the security guard immediately wore a fawning smile and continued, "Vice President Ye, some hick showed up from nowhere trying to pick up girls here, so I stopped him."
Chen Feiyu glanced at her casually and said, "I'm here to find my wife."
Ye Yilin looked at Chen Feiyu with curiosity and asked, "What is your wife's name?"
"Su Yingxue."
The words were so shocking that both Ye Yilin and the security guard gasped in unison.
The reason was simple: Su Yingxue was the president of the group and the goddess of all Mingji City.
Now, a country bumpkin suddenly appeared and claimed Su Yingxue was his wife. Who could possibly believe that?
The security guard laughed mockingly. "Give it a rest! A person like you wants President Su to be your wife? What a delusional, arrogant dream!"
"You say your wife is Su Yingxue. Do you have any proof?" Ye Yilin was equally shocked and filled with doubt.
"Here, I have a photo of my wife." Chen Feiyu took out a picture.
The woman in the photo was breathtakingly beautiful with a cold, elegant temperament—it was indeed President Su Yingxue.
"You brat, you actually stole a photo of our president."
The guard had seen Su Yingxue from a distance before and recognized her; he was convinced Chen Feiyu had stolen the picture.
However, upon seeing the photo, Ye Yilin was truly stunned.
She could tell that this was a private photo of Su Yingxue, one she would never give to anyone else. Since Chen Feiyu had it, there had to be some sort of connection. Besides, she knew that even if someone were to lie, they wouldn’t tell a lie so easily debunked.
Ye Yilin was a woman of breeding. To be safe, she asked for Chen Feiyu’s name and then walked to a corner to make a phone call.
The guard continued his taunts, sneering, "I don't know where you found that photo of President Su, but let me give you some advice: there are plenty of delusional people in this world. Think about who our president is—how could she possibly be interested in you? Vice President Ye is making a call now; your lie will be exposed soon. If you don't want to be even more embarrassed, I suggest you get out while you can."
Chen Feiyu stood calmly, saying nothing.
Soon, Ye Yilin walked back, her face full of shock.
"Well?" Chen Feiyu asked, hands behind his back, raising an eyebrow.
The guard scoffed, "Pfft, what else could it be? His lies were exposed, obviously."
Ye Yilin looked Chen Feiyu up and down, finding it harder and harder to believe. She said, "President Su wants to see you upstairs. Come with me."
"Heh, see? What did I say? It must be a lie..." The guard stopped mid-sentence, suddenly realizing what was happening. He gasped, "What? President Su invited him up? D-does that mean...?"
Chen Feiyu walked forward calmly. As he passed the guard, he said, "Remember this: when you look down on others, you’re only hurting yourself in the end."
The guard’s face turned deathly pale, and cold sweat streamed down his forehead.
Only one thought raced through his mind: I offended President Su’s husband. It’s over. I’m going to be fired.
Ye Yilin found it all incredibly surreal. She never imagined that Su Yingxue, who had always been high and mighty and kept everyone at arm's length, actually had a fiancé.
Even more mind-boggling was that for a "heavenly pride" like Su Yingxue, her fiancé should have been a phoenix among men. But to think, he was just this country bumpkin!
The contrast was truly staggering.
Thinking of this, Ye Yilin kept looking at Chen Feiyu with curiosity, trying to see if he had any hidden strengths.
But she was disappointed. No matter how she looked at him, other than his delicate features, he looked utterly rustic from head to toe.
It was hard to imagine that such a person could be Su Yingxue's fiancé.
Ye Yilin couldn't help but feel aggrieved for Su Yingxue, thinking she was completely wasted.
"Hmph."
Ye Yilin stiffened her face and let out a cold snort, which left Chen Feiyu feeling baffled.
Soon, Chen Feiyu followed Ye Yilin to the president's office.
A woman even more beautiful than in the photos was sitting behind a desk, working. She wore a white suit; her features were exquisite, her skin as white as snow, and she possessed a transcendent aura.
Seeing Su Yingxue, Chen Feiyu was very satisfied.
In person, she was a hundred times more beautiful than in the photo—she was absolutely the most stunning woman he had ever seen.
It seemed the old man had good taste, finding such a peerless beauty to be his wife.
"President Su, I’ve brought him here. I’ll be going now," Ye Yilin said.
"Alright, thank you for the trouble."
Su Yingxue’s lips curled into a smile that could dim the beauty of any flower.
After Ye Yilin left, Su Yingxue’s smile vanished instantly. She sized up the "legendary" Chen Feiyu with eyes that couldn't hide her disappointment.
Although she had always opposed this engagement, Chen Feiyu was, after all, her fiancé, and she couldn't help but be a little curious about him.
But now, seeing him was a total letdown. She was completely disappointed.
She had countless suitors; if they were to stand in a line, they would stretch from Mingji City all the way to the capital, and every one of them was a scion of a wealthy, prestigious family. Even then, Su Yingxue ignored them all, let alone this rustic Chen Feiyu in front of her.
Chen Feiyu walked up and said with a grin, "Wife, we’ve finally met."
Su Yingxue frowned. "Don't call me wife. I never said I was going to marry you."
Chen Feiyu replied, "We have a marriage contract. If you don't marry me, who else are you going to marry?"
Su Yingxue was speechless. If it weren't for that contract, Chen Feiyu probably wouldn't have been able to step foot in her office.
She took a deep breath to steady her emotions and said, "This engagement was decided by my grandfather without my consent. I don't acknowledge it myself, and I can't take a good-for-nothing man as my husband. However..."
"However what?"
Chen Feiyu couldn't help but frown, a hint of displeasure rising in his heart.
Just as Su Yingxue was about to continue, a noisy commotion erupted outside.
The office door was pushed open, and a handsome man in a sharp suit walked in, carrying a large bouquet of roses.
The man walked in without even glancing at Chen Feiyu, heading straight toward Su Yingxue. He flashed a smile he thought was charming and said, "Yingxue, these are for you. I’ve booked a restaurant for tonight. Would you do me the honor of having dinner with me?"
Chen Feiyu’s expression immediately turned grim.
Someone was trying to poach his wife right in front of his face—this was simply too much!
When Su Yingxue saw who it was, a flash of disgust crossed her face. She said coldly, "Li Tongwei, I appreciate your good intentions, but no thank you. I have a guest here, and it's not a convenient time to talk. Please leave."
A shadow of gloom appeared on Li Tongwei’s face. Only then did he notice Chen Feiyu. After a casual glance, he assumed Chen Feiyu was some low-level employee and looked at him with contempt. "Who are you? Can't you see I’m discussing something with President Su? Get out of here!"
Chen Feiyu sneered, "I’m her husband. What kind of pig-headed thing are you? Can't you see I’m here talking romance with my wife? Get the hell out of here!"
"What? President Su's husband?"
Li Tongwei was shocked. He looked Chen Feiyu up and down with disbelief, then laughed with disdain. He stood proudly and said, "A poor loser like you wants to be Su Yingxue's husband? Why don't you look in a mirror? What a delusional dream! Right, President Su?"
Li Tongwei was confident. He was the eldest son of the Li family, one of the most powerful families in Mingji City, controlling a third of its economy. For someone like Chen Feiyu, he could make him disappear from the city with just one word.
Heh, what was Chen Feiyu anyway?
To his surprise, Su Yingxue only glanced at him coldly and said, "What he said is true. He is indeed my husband."
"What?"
Li Tongwei exclaimed. He looked at Chen Feiyu, dressed in cheap off-the-rack clothes, then at the peerless Su Yingxue, and couldn't fathom how the two could be connected.
Chen Feiyu was very pleased with her remark. He said, "I was going to make you pay for threatening me, but I'm in a good mood today, so I’ll let you off the hook. Get lost now. Can you afford to pay for the consequences if you keep interfering with my time with my wife?"
Li Tongwei suddenly let out a mocking laugh and sneered at Su Yingxue, "I’ve always heard that President Su is an ice beauty who never gives men the time of day. I never imagined you had such a taste. I’ve learned something new today."
"What are you implying?" Su Yingxue’s expression shifted with anger.
"What else could I be implying? Isn't it obvious?" Li Tongwei laughed sarcastically. "With so many excellent gentlemen to choose from, you picked a poor loser. Tsk, tsk, your tastes are really something. I just wonder, when you two do those things at night, does President Su have such 'heavy' tastes as well?"
"You—what are you spouting?"
Su Yingxue was a virtuous young woman; when had she ever been subjected to such insults? Her eyebrows arched, her eyes flared, and she stood up from her chair.
"Hmph, how can you prove I’m spouting nonsense? How about this: spend a night with me, and let me verify President Su's innocence?" Li Tongwei chuckled.
"Shameless!"
Su Yingxue was trembling with rage, her chest heaving.
Li Tongwei’s eyes lit up. "So, President Su, will you consider my proposal?"
Suddenly, Li Tongwei felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked back, frowning, and said, "Hands off. Don't dirty my clothes; you can't afford to pay for them."
Chen Feiyu sneered, "You're wrong. You standing here is the real source of pollution, making the air in the room dirty and turbid. And insulting my wife in front of me? You are literally asking for death!"
With that, Chen Feiyu swung his hand hard. *Smack!* He delivered a heavy slap across Li Tongwei's face.
Li Tongwei stumbled back several steps, his head ringing. A molar was knocked out, and blood began to flow from the corner of his mouth.
Su Yingxue covered her mouth, looking at Chen Feiyu in disbelief. He had such raw power?
But deep down, she felt incredibly relieved.
Li Tongwei was both pained and furious. He held his cheek and snarled, "You actually dared to hit me! Do you know who I am?"
"I don't give a damn who you are."
Chen Feiyu lunged forward, closing the distance to Li Tongwei instantly, and sent him flying with another slap. He sneered, "If anyone dares to bully my woman, I’ll hit them regardless of who they are!"
Li Tongwei struggled to get up from the floor, a look of intense hatred in his eyes. He shrieked and lunged viciously at Chen Feiyu.
"Watch out!" Su Yingxue couldn't help but call out.
"Hmph, you’re overestimating yourself."
Chen Feiyu let out a cold laugh, suddenly lifting his foot to strike first, kicking him away.
Li Tongwei tried to crawl up, but Chen Feiyu was already on top of him, raining kicks down as he cursed, "You idiot, trying to hit on my wife in front of me? Do you want a beating that badly?"
"Don't... don't hit me, brother, I won't dare again, please... stop, you’ll kill me if you keep going!"
Li Tongwei felt as if every bone in his body had shattered, and he wailed like a slaughtered pig.
Su Yingxue was completely stunned. Was Chen Feiyu always this violent?
But it felt so satisfying!
A hint of a smile tugged at the corner of Su Yingxue’s mouth, and the look in her eyes as she watched Chen Feiyu softened just a little.
Li Tongwei’s wails continued unabated. Fearing a real tragedy, Su Yingxue advised, "I think that's enough. Why don't... why don't you let it go?"
Chen Feiyu pulled back his fist. His eyes glinted as he said in a deep voice, "Fine. Since my wife has spoken, consider yourself lucky. I’ll let you off this time, but if you dare speak disrespectfully to my wife again, it won't be as simple as today."
"Yes, yes, I was wrong. I won't dare again."
Li Tongwei had been beaten into a pulp, losing all the arrogance of a rich kid. He acted as obedient as a grandson and scrambled out of the room. But when his back was turned to Chen Feiyu, his eyes were filled with bone-deep hatred.
Su Yingxue seemed to sense it. As if to warn Chen Feiyu, she said, "Li Tongwei’s father is the chairman of the Mingji Trading Group. He has powerful connections in both the underworld and the establishment, and the Li family is known for holding grudges. You’ve humiliated him today; he’s bound to retaliate."
"So what?" Chen Feiyu clenched his fist and said proudly, "No matter how much power he has, I’ll just crush it with my fist. If they dare come looking for trouble, I’ll just beat them to a pulp."
Su Yingxue shook her head inwardly. As a native of Mingji City, she knew the Li family's influence well—it was even stronger than that of the Su family. Forget a grassroots guy like Chen Feiyu; even her own father wouldn't dare boast like that.
The small spark of goodwill she had felt for Chen Feiyu vanished just as quickly. She said coldly, "In any case, be careful."
"Wife, are you worried about me?"
Chen Feiyu grinned, his haughty demeanor instantly replaced by a cheeky smile, which made Su Yingxue dizzy.
Su Yingxue said fiercely, "Who is your wife? If you call me that again, I’m calling security. Now sit down; I have something to say to you."
The commanding tone made Chen Feiyu feel a flicker of annoyance, but he sat down opposite Su Yingxue nonetheless and said coolly, "Go ahead, I'm listening."
Su Yingxue frowned, as if pondering something. After a moment, she said slowly, "Although we have a marriage contract, you are currently aimless and have achieved nothing. Given the massive gap in our status, I could void this contract immediately if I wanted to. However..."
"Oh? However what?" Chen Feiyu asked calmly, his face betraying no emotion.
Su Yingxue continued, "However, since this was an agreement made by our elders, I should respect it. I’ll give you one year. During this year, the contract remains, and I can support you financially, but I will not make our relationship public. After a year, if you still have nothing to show for yourself, or if you can't make me fall in love with you, then this contract..."
Before she could finish, a strange light flickered in Chen Feiyu’s eyes. His usual cheeky expression turned calm. He said, "You support me? Are you looking down on me? Do you think I came here begging to be married? Let’s get one thing clear: that marriage contract was something your grandfather begged my master to set up. It’s not like I’m desperate to marry you."
Chen Feiyu continued, "I’ll give you one year as well. If you can't impress me, I’ll write a letter of divorce and cast you aside."
"You... what did you say?"
Su Yingxue was both shocked and furious. As a high-society lady, she had already offered a compromise, and yet the man not only refused to appreciate it but actually threatened to divorce her.
How could she tolerate this?
Facing his enraged fiancée, Chen Feiyu remained unmoved. "I mean what I say. Take care of yourself."
With that, he turned and left, without the slightest hint of lingering attachment.
"Chen Feiyu, you jerk! I’ll see what you’re capable of in a year!"
Su Yingxue stomped her foot in anger.
Chen Feiyu didn't look back as he opened the door and walked out.
Ye Yilin was standing by the door. Seeing Chen Feiyu walk out, she gave an awkward smile.
Chen Feiyu nodded slightly and walked off on his own.
Watching his receding figure, Ye Yilin shook her head secretly. She didn't know how Chen Feiyu had become President Su’s fiancé, but she knew he was completely unworthy of her. They were from two different worlds; they were destined never to intersect.
"As elegant and peerless as President Su is, she actually has a fiancé. Chen Feiyu, oh Chen Feiyu, it won't be long before your name spreads through high society. You’ll become the public enemy of at least a third of the young scions in town. Under all that pressure, you’ll probably run away in terror, won't you?"
Ye Yilin sighed inwardly.
After Chen Feiyu stepped out of the Chaoran Group building, he began to consider what he should do with his future.
