His body felt like a torn sack that had been hollowed out and clumsily restuffed. Every bone groaned, and the deep, throbbing pain beneath his ribs gnawed at him like a maggot in the bone, twitching with every heartbeat. In his Sea of Consciousness, the aftermath of that devastating storm still echoed, leaving behind a ruin of piercing pain and exhaustion. Yet deep within his left eye lay an unprecedented clarity.
