During the first decade of the new century, there were four relatively well-known film and television production companies in Mainland China.
Two of them were familiar to everyone: Tangren and Zhouyi. The other two weren't household names, yet enjoyed immense prestige within the industry: Jinyingma Film and Television, which produced *Wind and Cloud*, and Beijing Aryun Media, which produced *The Legendary Siblings* and Alec Su's version of *The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber*.
All four companies shared a common characteristic: they were all joint ventures established through cooperation between Mainland China and the regions of Taiwan and Hong Kong.
