Before Yun Que could think of a plan, a eunuch arrived to escort him to the Princess Mansion.
The Princess Mansion was adjacent to the Imperial Palace; it was only a short distance away. It occupied a vast area, containing several multi-story pavilions, all of which were dark and silent. A maidservant from the mansion led Yun Que to a small building that was uninhabited but fully furnished.
Yun Que settled in. Now that he had reached the Princess Mansion, he felt a surge of relief. If Emperor Qin had wanted to make things difficult for him, he would have done so while Yun Que was still in the palace. The fact that he was allowed to stay in the Princess Mansion suggested that either the Emperor hadn't seen the footage of the arson, or he simply didn't care to hold it against him. After all, the Crown Prince of Da Tang had to be given some face. It was just a gate burned down; Emperor Qin wasn't short on money—he could just build a few more.
