The Celestial Palace has nine tiers, commonly referred to as the nine heavens. What the highest tier—the ninth heaven—actually looks like has always been a mystery. Rumor has it that the plane core of the Immortal Realm and the Primordial Source Breath are located there. Only those with a cultivation base at the Heavenly Venerate level can force their way in.
The first tier is the Spring Realm, where the immortal spiritual energy is the thinnest. It is where cultivators below the Profound Immortal realm huddle for survival.
Once a cultivation base breaks through to the Profound Immortal realm, not only is the immortal spiritual energy no longer sufficient for cultivation, but the laws of heaven and earth are as well. Consequently, the higher one goes in the Celestial Palace, the higher the cultivation base of the immortals who reside there, giving rise to increasingly powerful sects, clans, sacred lands, and so on.
