Breaking the Deadlock and Gaining New Life
After discovering the monsters' weakness, Lu Yao did not rush into action. Like a veteran gamer, she lingered at the edge of the battlefield, secretly observing the monsters' attack patterns.
Flashes of blades and swirling swords flickered before her eyes, and the deafening sounds of combat made her blood race. The air was thick with a pungent smell of blood.
Yet she remained entirely calm. Her heart hammered like a war drum, and the mounting tension felt like a fully drawn bowstring, ready to snap at any second.
Suyi and Lin Yue were in a much more battered state, fighting a retreating battle with injuries covering their bodies.
"Yaoyao, have you figured out a countermeasure yet?" Lin Yue shouted. "I can't hold on much longer!" Suyi chimed in immediately, "Yeah, Lu Yao! If you don't unleash your ultimate move soon, we're all going to be goners here!"
Lu Yao knew full well that if they failed to defeat these monsters, everyone would be doomed.
Destiny seemed to be playing a cruel joke on them, pushing them right to the edge of a cliff.
The crushing pressure left her barely able to breathe, and the very air around her seemed to freeze.
Ma Lin sensed Lu Yao's immense stress. He walked over to her expressionlessly, standing as unmovable as a solid fortress, silently lending her strength.
Lu Yao felt a wave of reassurance wash over her.
The moment had finally arrived!
Lu Yao took a deep breath and roared, "Right now!" Like a cannonball, she charged into the thick of the monsters, nimbly dodging their attacks. The sword in her hand spun into flashes of silver light, stabbing with pinpoint precision at the monsters' weakness—a fingernail-sized red mark on the back of each one's neck.
Clearly, the monsters had never expected this seemingly frail girl to suddenly erupt, and they were caught completely off guard.
Seeing Lu Yao's counterattack, everyone else felt a spark of hope reignite. They rallied their spirits and threw themselves into the fight with even greater vigor.
Lu Yao struck fast, hard, and true. Every sword stroke carried Thunderous Might, and the monsters fell before her like paper cutouts.
The tide of battle began to turn, and the scale of victory slowly tipped in their favor.
Lu Yao wiped the sweat from her forehead and looked at the pile of fallen monsters around her, a cold smirk curling at the corner of her lips. "Is that it?"
Ma Lin walked up to her, still expressionless, though a flicker of admiration crossed his eyes.
"Not bad," he said flatly.
Lu Yao proudly lifted her chin, just about to speak, when suddenly the ground began to shake violently...
The tremors grew more intense by the second. The monsters' corpses were tossed aside like building blocks as dust billowed into the air, blotting out the sky.
Lu Yao shielded her eyes with one hand, squinting as she felt as though the earth were about to split apart.
Suddenly, the shaking stopped. Everything fell utterly still, as if nothing had happened at all.
Only the lingering stench of blood in the air reminded them of the fierce battle they had just survived.
As the dust settled, Lu Yao looked in astonishment to find that right where the monsters had vanished, a pile of glittering items had been left behind.
She stepped closer for a better look—they were all kinds of precious resources for immortal cultivation!
"Holy shit! We're rich!" Lin Yue shrieked, lunging forward to frantically scoop them up.
Suyi's eyes lit up as well, and he scrambled right after her.
Lu Yao joined the "scavenging" party too, blooming with joy inside.
After gathering the spoils of war, Lu Yao felt her entire body surge with power, and her cultivation seemed to have advanced another step.
She clenched her fists, feeling as though she could kill an ox with a single punch right now!
"Yaoyao, you are simply amazing!" Lin Yue hugged Lu Yao's arm, looking at her with total adoration. "How did you ever find out the monsters' weakness? Teach me your secrets!" Suyi nodded vigorously from the side, his eyes shining with a thirst for knowledge.
Lu Yao smiled smugly and put on a mysterious front. "Heavenly secrets cannot be revealed!"
Ma Lin walked over to Lu Yao and gently took her hand. Her heart did a frantic somersault, and a faint blush crept onto her cheeks.
Seeing this, Suyi and Lin Yue sensibly walked away, leaving the space entirely to the two of them.
However, this tender moment did not last long.
The sky suddenly grew dark, and a massive rift materialized out of thin air, as if trying to devour everything in existence.
A powerful suction force emanated from the rift, pulling Lu Yao and the others toward it.
They fought back desperately, but to no avail.
Ma Lin pulled Lu Yao tightly into his arms. At that exact moment, Lu Yao felt a familiar surge of energy radiating from the depths of the rift...
She gripped Ma Lin's hand tightly, locking her gaze on the abyss within the rift, and whispered inwardly, "Is it you?"
